The Department of Audio & Visual Arts of the Ionian University organizes the 5th International Conference Digital Culture & AudioVisual Challenges (DCAC-2023) which will be held in hybrid way - online and in the Ionian Academy in Corfu (Greece), on Friday 12 May and on Saturday 13 May 2023. DCAC-2023 submissions via EasyChair. Hard deadline extension for submission of extended abstracts: 24 March, 2023.

The 1st International Festival of Short Documentaries ended on Monday 30 January. The festival was organised by the Creative Documentary Centre of Kalamata and the Kalamata Municipality, hosting guests and participants from 32 countries.

The fifth international conference Taboo - Transgression - Transcendence in Art & Science will take place September 27–29, 2023 in Valletta, Malta. TTT is an interdisciplinary and nomadic event, where both practitioners as well as theorists present and discuss the status of art-science and/or art & technology. TTT, created by Dalila Honorato, Assoc. Professor, Dept Audio & Visual Arts of the Ionian University, is based on the support of a large informal network of international researchers and practitioners that develop their activities at the edge of art and science intersections. The conference language is English. Proposals must be sent electronically through the EasyChair submissions system until January 31st, 2023.

Do you want to understand and design digital Augmented Reality applications? Can you imagine visiting the museum in a different, more interactive way? The University Museum in collaboration with the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University, offers to the general public the "Creative Workshop of Interactive Educational Experiences in the Museum using Augmented Reality".

The year 2022 marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Greek-born pioneer composer and thinker Iannis Xenakis, and is accompanied worldwide by events dedicated to his memory and work. To honour this Greek-born musician, a marathon concert takes place at Athens Conservatory, on Saturday 17 December, presenting works inspired by his musical work and his reflections on science and technology and the role of muscles in society and the arts. This event, which takes place at the Athens Conservatory from 7 pm until 3:30 am the following day, features musicians and artists from ten different countries (Greece, Italy, Germany, Turkey, Japan, Mexico, England, Ireland, Germany, Turkey, United States).

On Wednesday December 14th, 2022, (17:00-19:00 pm), Dr. Dalila Honorato, and Dr Tania Tsiridou, docents of the Department of Audio & Visual Arts, invite you to the guest lecture “The body as text: the interaction between body and technology in performance art” by the post-doc researcher Dr. Eleni Kolliopoulou. The lecture will be hybrid (room YK3 and online), within the frame of the course "Semiotic Analysis of New Media" of the Postgraduate Programme in Audiovisual Arts "MA: Audiovisual Arts in the Digital Age". Prof. Dalila Honorato and Art Staff Christina Mitsani have the pleasure to invite you to the guest-lecture “Storyfronts an interactive storytelling documentary and video game” by the Canadian visiting-artist Elizabeth Littlejohn. The Ionian Contemporary Animation Festival ICONA 2022, organized for fourth year by the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University had a great participation with more than 1.300 movie submissions!

In the context of the research activity of the Interactive Arts Laboratory (InArts) of the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University, the Art Boulevard search engine, an academic project that aims to assist with the diffusion of Art and Culture related content, while at the same collecting useful information about the needs and wants of people looking for such content online.

The META-Xenakis global symposium will be held online on September 30 and October 1, 2022, by various educational institutions across 5 countries all over the world connected via the web.

The aim of the Ionian Contemporary Animation Festival ICONA 2022 is to present the best from the field of animation from all around the world. The festival also aims to preserve and help develop the cultural heritage of animated film, contribute to creation of new films, provide ground for potential international co-productions and encourages dialogue between professionals, filmmakers and the public.
