Maria Aslanidi, special teaching personnel at the Dept. of Audio and Visual Arts, is a member of the new international research working group of the RDA Steering Committee-RSC entitled "[Advisory] Music Working Group."
The RSC recognises that music description is an important specialism for developing the RDA content standard (see: https://www.rdatoolkit.org/ for more information). After communicating with music metadata experts around the world, the RSC decided to establish a special category of research working groups called 'Advisory Working Groups', which includes this specific permanent special research group.
More specifically, the RSC, in collaboration with the Music Library Association-MLA and the International Association of Music Libraries, Archives and Documentation Centres -IAML, seeks to establish a Music Working Group as an Advisory Working Group, which will consist of experts in the field of Music Metadata and Documentation.
The mission of this research team is to promote and develop the RDA standard for music further, while ensuring that it incorporates international developments in music information and metadata.
The 'Music Working Group' aims to provide a forum that will encourage international representation and reflection of music metadata description-related issues.
