The Animation Festival ICONA 2025, which took place from November 13th to 16th 2025, exclusively online, by the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University, was successfully completed. The festival program included both professional and student competitions. A total of 316 films from 100 countries were screened. Renata Dalianoudi, Associate Professor at the Dept. of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University, is invited to offer a three-hour seminar at the Department of Theatre Studies of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, within the framework of the undergraduate course “Shadow Theatre and Puppetry 2. Encounters” (Professor: Dr. Anthi Chotzakoglou). The seminar’s theme is: “MUSIC IN SHADOW THEATRE. THE ROLE of FOLK and POPULAR MUSIC. CASE STUDY: ‘Alexander the Great and the Enchanted Serpent’ by Eugenios Spatharis, with music by Manos Hadjidakis.” The seminar takes place on Friday, 12 December, 12:00–15:00, at the School of Philosophy, National Kapodistrian University of Athens.

The Interactive Arts Laboratory (InArts Lab) of the Department of Audio & Visual Arts is pleased to announce that Boryana Rossa, artist, professor, and Associate Chair in the Department of Film and Media Arts at Syracuse University, has been awarded a New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) grant for the project “Aphrodite Conception.” The project originated during the TTTfellows: Art & Science Residency 2024 Fall in Corfu, where Rossa collaborated with molecular biologist Dr. Heidi Hehnly-Chang. Developed within the framework of Rewilding Cultures, co-financed by the European Union, the residency provided a unique environment for interdisciplinary experimentation, facilitated by Dalila Honorato and Adam Zaretsky.

The Winter School in Hybrid Arts Methodology returns to the Athens School of Fine Arts Annex on the island of Hydra for a week-long immersive program that brings together postgraduate students and faculty for collaborative academic exploration, artistic experimentation, and intensive research development. Running from November 24 to 28, 2025, the Winter School provides a dedicated environment where emerging researchers engage directly with leading practitioners in hybrid arts, media archaeology, performance, sound, sustainability, bioart, and critical theory. The Winter School in Hybrid Arts Methodology is co-organized by the InArts Lab  of the Department of Audio & Visual Arts - Ionian University on behalf of the Master of Research in Hybrid Arts (MARes) and the C’ Sculpture Studio of the Athens School of Fine Arts. The program operates within a framework of Social Ethics that fosters respectful communication, inclusivity, and accessibility.

The 23rd Festival “Days of Electroacoustic Music” will take place on October 17–19 in Ioannina. Eeva-Liisa will present the latest developments in her project, “Currents of Smell and Signal: From the Barents Sea to the Beyond”, exploring smell as a sociocultural indicator and translating olfactory experiences into multisensory narratives.
