Winter School 2025: Hybrid Arts Methodology
Athens School of Fine Arts Annex, Hydra — November 24–28, 2025

The Winter School in Hybrid Arts Methodology returns to the Athens School of Fine Arts Annex on the island of Hydra for a week-long immersive program that brings together postgraduate students and faculty for collaborative academic exploration, artistic experimentation, and intensive research development. Running from November 24 to 28, 2025, the Winter School provides a dedicated environment where emerging researchers engage directly with leading practitioners in hybrid arts, media archaeology, performance, sound, sustainability, bioart, and critical theory.

The program features a carefully curated combination of seminars, workshops, and collective discussions designed to support participants in advancing their research trajectories and expanding methodological approaches that bridge art and science. Activities integrate analytical, technical, and practice-based strategies, encouraging experimentation and collaborative forms of knowledge production.

This year’s faculty include Dalila Honorato, Adam Zaretsky, Emmanouel Rovithis, Ioannis Zannos, and Daphne Dragona, guiding sessions that explore hybrid bioart methodologies, media archaeologies, sound design, and environmental curating. The program also welcomes the special participation of Vassilis Diamantis, whose expertise further enriches the collaborative atmosphere of the Winter School.

The learning community is shaped by the engaged presence of attending students from ASFA — Lydia Mitsogianni, Georgia Lamari, Maria Kousofta, Georgia Nika, Maria Bolia, Foteini Palieraki, Panagiotis Porichis, and Iannis Kalliakos — alongside active contributions from MARes students Nathalie Dubois Calero, Zoe Lomax, Nicolas Parise, Katinka van der Jagt, Jess Sullivan, and ASFA student Maria Stavroulaki, who lead sessions on topics such as art and medicine, collective mapping, and alternative editorial practices.

Participants are hosted in shared accommodation at the ASFA Annex, transforming the week into an immersive residency where dialogue, experimentation, and reflection extend beyond the formal schedule. This collective mode of living reinforces the Winter School’s commitment to collaboration, interdisciplinary exchange, and hands-on engagement.

The Winter School in Hybrid Arts Methodology is co-organized by the InArts Lab  of the Department of Audio & Visual Arts - Ionian University on behalf of the Master of Research in Hybrid Arts (MARes) and the C’ Sculpture Studio of the Athens School of Fine Arts. The program operates within a framework of Social Ethics that fosters respectful communication, inclusivity, and accessibility.
