The Department of Audio & Visual Arts of the Ionian University, on the occasion of the 17th Audiovisual Arts Festival inaugurates on 28 May 2024 at 11:00 am the exhibition “Mutagenic Futures”, with artworks by artists Ken Rinaldo and Adam Zaretsky.

The 17th Festival of Audiovisual Arts celebrates this year the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Department of Audio & Visual Arts (AVARTS) of the Ionian University, presenting an extroverted, dynamic, and rich program of artistic, scientific, and educational events that fills the city of Corfu with images and sounds. The opening of the festival is the central anniversary event and will take place on Thursday (23/05) at 19:30 in the People's Garden.

PEARL (Performative Environment Art Research Lab) of the Department of Audiovisual Arts of the Ionian University and TOPLAP Athens present a research report and demo followed by a networked live coding concert: Telematic live coding performances in SuperCollider using OscGroups. In the context of the 17th Audiovisual Arts Festival and the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Department of Audio and Visual Arts, the "LiteRArt" Club celebrates its 2 years of operation with the Opening of the Exhibition "Artists’ Awakening", on Friday, May 31, 2024 (18:00) at the Library and Information Centre of the Ionian University.

The ‘INSAP’ meeting [May 20th-24th, 2024] in Ionian Academy - 1, Kapodistriou str., Corfu marks the twelfth in the series of Conferences on the Inspiration of Astronomical Phenomena and will explore humanity’s fascination with the sky by day and by night - which has been a strong and often dominant element in human life and culture.

AV-school, the series of seminars and workshops of the Audiovisual Arts Festival, will be held at the Public Central Historic Library at Corfu from May 28th to May 31st, 2024. AV-School 2024 theme is “Impressions” and it celebrates the Department of Audio and Visual Arts’ 20th Anniversary. The program is open to all those interested in contemporary art issues and new technologies, focusing this year in topics related with film, performance art, radio, gaming and art research. Registration for both workshops and seminars is free, and attendees will receive a certificate of attendance.

Applications are now open for TTTfellows: Art and Science Residency - Fall 2024, co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union and the Ionian University within the Feral Labs Network. Dedicated to issues related to new reproductive technologies, TTTfellows is taking place on 23 September - 4 October 2024 (online) and 7-18 October 2024 (on-place) on the island of Corfu. Assoc. Prof. Dalila Honorato, Director of the InArts Lab at the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University, participates as a guest-speaker at the Bio Art Forum taking place in Novi Sad, Serbia, on May 16-18, 2024, as part of the project Bio Awaking. The specific objectives of the project include developing a network of bio artists across Europe, strengthening the capacities of European artists in utilizing biomaterials, and creating bio art installations using environmental samples. Additionally, the project will focus on involving decision-makers in all phases of the process, fostering an audience for bio art that supports environmental conservation, and nurturing cultural, artistic, and educational collaboration in addressing environmental challenges in Europe and the Balkans.
