The MARes in Hybrid Arts, Department of Audio & Visual Arts, Ionian University, announces the second week of public Master’s thesis presentations for September 2026, taking place online from 23 to 25 September 2026. Five MARes candidates will present their Master’s theses across three consecutive days. 

The presentations are open to the public and will take place online via Zoom. 

Wednesday, 23 September 2026 (3 pm) Greece / 2 pm CET

Anne Vlaanderen
A Fungal Hack for Other-than-Human Learning: Speculative Design Fiction and Tabletop Roleplay as a Fungal Pedagogy
Supervisor: Dalila Honorato

Anne Vlaanderen is an interdisciplinary designer specializing in digital fabrication and mycology. As an instructor at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam, she teaches digital fabrication and bio-integrated design and has also lectured at the Biohack Academy at Waag. Her practice explores fungal care and culture, collaborative pedagogies, AI-enhanced fungal interfaces, and post-anthropocentric approaches to co-creating with living systems.

Christos Tolis
A Flower in the Dark Casts no Shadow: Drama, Digital Performance and Uncommon Sense in the Age of AI
Supervisor: Bill Psarras

Christos Tolis is a filmmaker and musician with a professional background in photography, cinematography, stage production, and lighting design. He has produced documentary work for organizations including UNHCR, IFRC, and WWF and has presented photographic, film, and interdisciplinary performance projects in Greece and internationally. He is the founder of Sub.Urban Images and Soundscapes.

Berry Sullivan
The 8 Museum: Speculative Museology, Embodied Attention, and a Counter-Archive of Late-Stage Humanity
Supervisor: Dalila Honorato

Berry Sullivan is an artist, philanthropist, and technologist whose hybrid creative practice explores consciousness, identity, and transformation. Drawing on backgrounds in technology, social enterprise, and art, her work moves between speculative museology, embodied archives, and relationships between human and digital selves, while her broader activities include community-driven initiatives concerned with care, belonging, art, technology, and social practice.

Myrto Papadopoulos
Where the Water Flows
Supervisor: Maria Chalkou

Myrto Papadopoulos has spent nearly two decades developing long-form visual narratives across Europe and Central Asia around identity, belonging, collective memory, and relationships between people and land. Her cross-disciplinary practice combines photography, video, social practices, archival material, and text, and her work has been commissioned or published by organizations including Smithsonian, The New York Times, Time Magazine, and National Geographic.

Anna Hafner
Spectrasomatics: Remixing Wellness via Chakra-Informed Art
Supervisor: Emmanouel Rovithis

Anna Laura Hafner is a multidisciplinary artist with more than a decade of experience presenting performances in unconventional spaces. Her practice combines masks, puppets, costumes, sets, video, painting, installation, and found materials, addressing themes including home, love, loss, and climate change. Within MARes, she has developed therapeutic interactive performance experiences combining light and colour with sound and movement.

Together, these five presentations complete the September cycle of MARes in Hybrid Arts public Master’s thesis defenses, bringing together diverse artistic and research practices across design, performance, museology, visual storytelling, living systems, technology, and embodied experience.
