The encounter between West and East, between art music and folk traditions, and between harmonic and modal musical languages, is articulated through arrangements of folk repertoire enriched by elements of art-music harmony and, at times, by a distinctly jazz-inflected sensibility. At the heart of this musical dialogue lies the interplay between the piano and the oud, as well as the lute.
Through an approach of creative re-elaboration, folk plucked-string instruments—including the oud, lute, and mandolin—alongside solo voice and choral singing, enter into dialogue with the harmonic and timbral nuances of the Western piano. The performance explores the aesthetic and expressive possibilities that emerge from the meeting of different musical traditions, idioms, and performance practices, creating a contemporary space of musical exchange between tradition and artistic re-creation.
