Applications are now open for TTTfellows: Art and Science Residency - Fall 2024, co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union and the Ionian University within the Feral Labs Network. Dedicated to issues related to new reproductive technologies, TTTfellows is taking place on 23 September - 4 October 2024 (online) and 7-18 October 2024 (on-place) on the island of Corfu. Deadline for applications: 6 June 2024. Results announcement: 21 June 2024.

Assoc. Prof. Dalila Honorato, Director of the InArts Lab at the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University, participates as a guest-speaker at the Bio Art Forum taking place in Novi Sad, Serbia, on May 16-18, 2024, as part of the project Bio Awaking. The specific objectives of the project include developing a network of bio artists across Europe, strengthening the capacities of European artists in utilizing biomaterials, and creating bio art installations using environmental samples. Additionally, the project will focus on involving decision-makers in all phases of the process, fostering an audience for bio art that supports environmental conservation, and nurturing cultural, artistic, and educational collaboration in addressing environmental challenges in Europe and the Balkans.

On Tuesday May 14th, 2024, 13:00-15:00 pm at room ΤΑΒΜ 2.39, Emeritus Professor Rob Kesseler, Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London, will be presenting “Butterflies in Art and in Corfu” as a guest-lecturer of the Dept. of Audio & Visual Arts within the framework of the course "THE202-Communication Theory". Renata Dalianoudi, Associate Prof., Dept. of Audio & Visual Arts, Ionian University, is invited by the President of  La Biennale d Venezia, Professor Pietrangelo Buttafuoco, and by the Curator of the 60th International Art Exhibition, Mr. Adriano Pedrosa, to be present at the events of the International Exhibition, concerning Music, Dance, Theatre, Cinema and Fine Arts, on April 17-18-19, 2024, in Venezia.

On Wednesday, March 27th, at 21:00 at Polytechno, artists Robert B. Lisek, Clarissa Ribeiro and Adam Zaretsky will be performing XenoZombie as guest of the Ionian University within the framework of the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Department of Audio & Visual Arts. Within the same project the artists will be participating in the guest-talk “Genetic Engineering in Hybrid Arts” on Thursday 28 March 2024, 15-17:00 in room YK1.

The Department of Audio & Visual Arts of the Ionian University organizes the 6th International Conference Digital Culture & AudioVisual Challenges (DCAC-2024) which will be held in hybrid way - online and in the Ionian Academy in Corfu (Greece), on Friday 24 May and on Saturday 25 May 2024. Also on 26-27 May, 2024 the joint conference "Art in the Age of Artificial Intelligence" will take place. Assoc. Prof. Dalila Honorato, Director of the InArts Lab at the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University, participates as a member of the organizing committee at the conference FEMeeting: Women in Art, Science and Technology 2024 taking place in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, on June 23-29, 2024.

On 13 and 20 December, 2023 (time 17:00-19:00 pm.), a double-lecture entitled "Semiology of Internet Art" will be given by guest-speaker Dr. Tania Tsiridou (Specialized Teaching Staff of the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University), as part of the course "Semiotic Analysis of New Media" (ΜΑ "Audiovisual Arts in the Digital Age"). The lectures will take place through the postgraduate online platform, coordinated by Associate Professor Ms. Dalila Honorato.

The fifth Ionian Contemporary Animation Festival ICONA 2023, organized and promoted by the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University had exceeded our expectations with more than 1.440 submissions.

Hari Marini, Associate Professor of the Department of Audio and Visual Arts at the Ionian University, was keynote speaker to the international conference Tartalo. The VII International Conference on Myth in the Arts organized by the Faculty of Arts, University of the Basque Country, November 2023. Her paper was entitled: "Moving Through Mythical Space: Unknown Terrains and Site-based Performance Practices".
