The project Until we return is a three channel audiovisual installation based on personal recordings from the stay and work of the creator in Iceland during the summer of 2025. Through interviews, images of everyday life, and moments of collective living, it documents the experience of Greek seasonal workers who found themselves there for the summer months.
The documentary focuses on the working conditions, temporary migration, and the relationships formed within a geographically and culturally remote environment. The exhibition room has been arranged to resemble the temporary housing of the people featured in the film, allowing the viewer to listen to their stories as if they were there with them. The three channel format has been chosen to allow space for a parallel visualisation of different moments and settings, creating a multilayered visual interpretation of different narratives.
Concept and creation: Alexandra Iliadou
The project was created as part of a diploma thesis at the Dept. of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University.
