Double Participation of the Department of Audio and Visual Arts at the 22nd Athens Digital Arts Festival
It is with great pleasure that we announce the participation of two students of the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University in the 22nd Athens Digital Arts Festival (ADAF 2026), titled "META–MORPHOSIS", which takes place on 23–26 April 2026 at Technopolis City of Athens.
ADAF is the largest and longest-running international digital arts festival in Greece, a meeting point for artists, scientists, and researchers from around the world. This year's theme, Meta-Morphosis, explores the transformations brought about by technology in our everyday lives, our relationship with artificial intelligence, and the changes our natural heritage is undergoing in the midst of the climate crisis.
The participating works
Tonia Papakonstantinou — postgraduate student of the M.A. programme "Audiovisual Arts in the Digital Age" — presents the work "Condact: The Metamorphosis of Touch", an interactive installation that explores the moment when the body becomes the conductor of an audiovisual composition. On a glass surface, organic shapes resembling fingerprints await the detection of human presence; each touch gives birth to dynamic geometric forms and harmonic chords that accumulate on the screen, weaving a sensory imprint that remains visible as a digital memory. The work functions as a bridge of communication and co-creation, inviting us to reflect on what kind of contact we truly seek in a world of constant flux.

Hope Zoe Papathanasiou — undergraduate student of the Department of Audio and Visual Arts — presents the work "Wave Motion", an interactive experience that engages with underwater nature through audiovisual elements that respond directly to the viewer's movement. The work was developed within the framework of the undergraduate course "Interactive Audiovisual Systems", supervised by Angelos Floros and Varvara Garneli.

A double success
The simultaneous selection of works from both undergraduate and postgraduate levels of study at the most distinguished digital arts festival in the country constitutes a significant achievement and reaffirms the dynamic character of the research and artistic activity of the Department of Audio and Visual Arts, as well as of the M.A. programme "Audiovisual Arts in the Digital Age". At the same time, it highlights the fertile connection between academic education and contemporary artistic production, and the active engagement of our students in international fields of dialogue.
We warmly congratulate our two students and wish them every success.
