The Steering Committee of the 17h Audiovisual Arts Festival (#AVfest2024) of the Department of Audio and Visual Arts, in collaboration with the ERHMEE Lab - Department of Music Studies, of the Ionian University invites students and anyone who is interested in joining the volunteers’ team. The Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University is pleased to announce the solo exhibition of Vasilis Alexandrou, entitled Πολιτικά νωθρό / Politically rekt as part of its 20th anniversary celebrations. On Wednesday, March 27th, at 21:00 at Polytechno, artists Robert B. Lisek, Clarissa Ribeiro and Adam Zaretsky will be performing XenoZombie as guest of the Ionian University within the framework of the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Department of Audio & Visual Arts. Within the same project the artists will be participating in the guest-talk “Genetic Engineering in Hybrid Arts” on Thursday 28 March 2024, 15-17:00 in room YK1.

The Department of Audio & Visual Arts of the Ionian University organizes the 6th International Conference Digital Culture & AudioVisual Challenges (DCAC-2024) which will be held in hybrid way - online and in the Ionian Academy in Corfu (Greece), on Friday 24 May and on Saturday 25 May 2024. Also on 26-27 May, 2024 the joint conference "Art in the Age of Artificial Intelligence" will take place. Assoc. Prof. Dalila Honorato, Director of the InArts Lab at the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University, participates as a member of the organizing committee at the conference FEMeeting: Women in Art, Science and Technology 2024 taking place in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, on June 23-29, 2024.

On 13 and 20 December, 2023 (time 17:00-19:00 pm.), a double-lecture entitled "Semiology of Internet Art" will be given by guest-speaker Dr. Tania Tsiridou (Specialized Teaching Staff of the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University), as part of the course "Semiotic Analysis of New Media" (ΜΑ "Audiovisual Arts in the Digital Age"). The fifth Ionian Contemporary Animation Festival ICONA 2023, organized and promoted by the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University had exceeded our expectations with more than 1.440 submissions.

Hari Marini, Associate Professor of the Department of Audio and Visual Arts at the Ionian University, was keynote speaker to the international conference Tartalo. The VII International Conference on Myth in the Arts organized by the Faculty of Arts, University of the Basque Country, November 2023. Her paper was entitled: "Moving Through Mythical Space: Unknown Terrains and Site-based Performance Practices".

Project Mystery 91_Magnetic Dance, explores the relationship between technology and culture through a series of performances in collaboration with artists from Greece, Japan, and France. The technology for the project was developed within the framework of the HAL research project of the Department of audiovisual Arts at the Ionian University and is presented here for the first time in autonomous, large-scale works.
