AvSchool, the educational component of the 18th Audiovisual Arts Festival, was successfully concluded on Friday, May 16, 2025. The event was organized by the Department of Audio & Visual Arts of the Ionian University in collaboration with the ERHMEE Lab of the Department of Music Studies.

This year’s AvSchool took place from May 12 to May 16 in Corfu, hosted at the Corfu Central Public Historical Library, specifically in the "Evi Laskari" Hall. It brought together a distinguished group of artists, researchers, and academics from Greece and abroad. The central theme of this year's edition was "Intersections," aiming to highlight the richness and diversity that emerge from the convergence of contemporary art and new technologies, with a special focus on film, performance, artificial intelligence, and artistic research.

AvSchool 2025 drew significant participation, with 253 individuals attending the week’s events. Participants had the opportunity to engage in a rich program of workshops, presentations, and lectures, fostering collaboration, knowledge exchange, and experimentation.

The program included:

Monday, May 12
•Acting Workshop "Here and Now" with Yolanda Kaperta
• Organizing and Scheduling Film & TV Productions with Argyris Zachos

Tuesday, May 13
• Two-Day Documentary Workshop “Representing Reality” with Senior Lecturer Becca Bond

Wednesday, May 14
• Movie Creation using A.I. Image Prompting Technologies with PhD Candidate Leonidas Goudelis

• The Brothers Phobos and Deimos: Fear and Dread in the Creative Process of Filmmaking with Emeritus Professor Erik Knudsen
• The art of being human: The Social and Political Action of Cultural Institutions and the Role of Participation in the Field of Culture with Dr. Christos Stavrou

AvSchool 2025 served as a fertile ground for the meeting of diverse artistic practices, theoretical approaches, and technological tools, creating an open space for the exchange of experiences, ideas, and creative expression.

We sincerely thank the Corfu Central Public Historical Library for hosting us in the "Evi Laskari" Hall, as well as Corfu Tech Lab for their valuable collaboration and support in the realization of the event.
