Sorbonne Nouvelle University (Paris III), and the European Popular Culture Association (EPCA) are organizing the International Conference EUPOP 2025 “United in Diversity”, which focuses on European popular culture and its various forms. The conference will explore topics such as the boundaries of popular culture, politics, forms of propaganda and influence, as well as methodological issues, all through an interdisciplinary approach.
Greek pop culture will be presented in the roundtable session under the general theme:
“Including and Excluding American Popular Culture in Greece: Negotiating National, European, and Glocalized Identities”, featuring a panel of professors from the following Greek universities: Ionian University, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), and Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH).
Renata Dalianoudi, Associate Professor at the Department of Audio & Visual Arts of the Ionian University, will represent the Ionian University as the keynote speaker of the panel, with a presentation titled:
“From the Imported Discs of Copland in the ’50s and the European Rock of the ’60s to the Political Anti-American Songs of the ’70s: A Musicological and Cultural Approach to Greek Musical Identity of the Era.”
