Maria Aslanidi, Specialized Teaching Personnel at the Department of Audio & Visual Arts, is participating in the Annual Meeting and International Symposium entitled: "Metadata Standards Matter: building a Sustainable Future for Information" 17-19 March 2025 at the EBE at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center. Her participation consists of coordinating the meeting of the UNIMARC Permanent Committee in her capacity as coordinator of the ISBDM-UNIMARC Harmonisation Working Group, which was established and has been operating since 2023.

A few words about the international meeting:
The National Library of Greece (NLG), in cooperation with the IFLA Committee of Standards (CoS), is organising the Annual Meeting and International Symposium "Metadata Standards Matter: Building a Sustainable Future for Information" on 17-19 March 2025 at the NLG of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre.
On 17 and 18 March, librarians and information professionals from around the world will gather at the NLG in IFLA committees and working groups to discuss and shape the future of standards in the library and information management sector.
On 19 March, the International Symposium will focus on critical issues such as metadata strategies and approaches in the face of technological developments, challenges and opportunities in metadata management using artificial intelligence, and adapting metadata standards to emerging technologies and new types of content.
