On Tuesday 25 January 2022, Dr. Emmanouel Rovithis is presenting the lecture with the title "Playful Mechanisms in Audio Spaces" within the framework of Semiotic Analysis of New Media in the MA: Audiovisual Arts a course taught by Dr. Dalila Honorato and Dr. Tania Tsiridou.

The Animation Festival ICONA 2021, which took place from the 2nd to the 5th of December 2021, exclusively online, by the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University, was successfully completed.

On November 26th, 2021 (time 19:00-19:45 CET), in the framework of the program "Re͏s͏e͏a͏r͏c͏h͏ p͏r͏a͏c͏t͏i͏c͏e͏s͏ i͏n͏ a͏r͏t͏, d͏e͏s͏i͏g͏n͏ a͏n͏d͏ a͏r͏c͏h͏i͏t͏e͏c͏t͏u͏r͏e͏ #2", Dr Dalila Honorato (Associate Professor, Dept. of Audio & Visual Arts) and coordinator of the art & science research group at the InArts Lab of Dept. Audio & Visual Arts of the Ionian University, participates as a speaker with Dr. Olga Majcen Linn in the theme "Witchcraft-Science-Health".

The third Ionian Contemporary Animation Festival ICONA 2021, organized and promoted by the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University had exceeded our expectations with more than 1.500 submissions.

Following the great success of the previous years, Women in Film and Television Greece (WIFT GR) and the Greek Film Archive present the 5th “50/50 EQUALITY IN CINEMA” WIFT GR FILM FESTIVAL, which is organised this year with the collaboration of the Thessaloniki International Film Festival, under the auspices and with the support of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Sport, and under the auspices of the Hellenic General Secretariat for Demography and Family Policy and Gender Equality. It takes place between 24 and 28 November 2021, on the occasion of the UN International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (25/11). all screenings and events of the Festival will be free of charge. Due to the pandemic, the Festival will be held online, at the screening platform of the Greek Film Archive online.tainiothiki.gr, with the exception of the opening night (24/11, at 19:00), which will take place in the great hall of the Greek Film Archive.

The team of the Pedagogical Sufficiency Program-PSP of the Dept. of Audio & Visual Arts,  Ionian University, presents its novel game-based educational methodology on script-writing "Serious Film Fames" (S.FI.GA.) at the 11th International Conference in Open and Distance Learning-ICODL through two (2) paper presentations. The conference is held online from the 26th until the 28th of November 2021.

On Thursday, November 25th, 10:00am (classroom 11), as part of the course "THE906-Practice of Exhibition Design", we will have the pleasure to have Dr Adam Zaretsky with us on a guest lecture entitled “IT'S ALIVE! Understanding bio-art: art and biology exhibited”.

Associate Professor of the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University and founding member of InArts Lab, Dalila Honorato, participates in the exhibition "Burnt Paths" which takes place at Ectopia – Laboratory of Experimental Art (Rua José Sobral Cid 16) until December 20th, 2021 (Mondays and Wednesdays between 10am and 4pm). 

Οn Saturday, November 13, 2021, at ca. 10:00 pm (Greek time), members of the AVARTS Team of EASTN-DC will perform the telematic dance piece "IDE Fantasy" at the Musica Nova Festival in O'culto da Ajuda, Lisbon and at the Sound / Performance Studio of the Dept. of Audio & Visual Arts. 

The deadline for the submission of full papers for the works presented in DCAC-2021 has been extended up to November 15th, 2021 (hard deadline).

Two sound installations created by Luc Messinezis, PhD candidate (Dept. of Audio & Visual Arts), will be presented as part of the 17th Athens Digital Art Festival (ADAF), which will take place from the 13th until the 17th of October at the Museum of Modern Greek Culture and other locations around the area of Monastiraki and Plaka. The 1st artwork is called "Flowers" and the 2nd "Natural Perversion [Physical Edition]".

The aim of the Ionian Contemporary Animation Festival ICONA 2021 is to present the best from the field of animation from all around the world. The festival also aims to preserve and help develop the cultural heritage of animated film, contribute to creation of new films, provide ground for potential international co-productions and encourages dialogue between professionals, filmmakers and the public. Dalila Honorato, Associate Professor at the Department of Audio & Visual Arts of the Ionian University, recently joined the new Editorial Organism group of the journal "Technoetic Arts" published by Intellect. The journal founded in 2003 by Honorary Professor Roy Ascott, publishes three issues each year.
