The Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University is pleased to announce the solo exhibition of Vasilis Alexandrou, entitled Πολιτικά νωθρό / Politically rekt as part of its 20th anniversary celebrations.
The exhibition focuses on the concept of political correctness, a concept whose overuse ultimately leads to the silencing of expression and is often manipulated as misdirection. Moreover, the title, which is a pun, sums up the political inertia and widespread complacency of citizens.
The exhibition will present a large part of the artist's research from the last four years. His research focuses on the how the recent pandemic and lockdown have introduced society into a new digital age, but also how society is being manipulated in a post-pandemic era without fully realizing the significance of these processes. The event will take place at MOMus- Experimental Center for the Arts, Thessaloniki, April 25 –May 12, 2024. The exhibition is curated by Eirini Papakonstantinou, art historian and curator.
