The 1st International Festival of Short Documentaries ended on Monday 30 January. The festival was organised by the Creative Documentary Centre of Kalamata and the Kalamata Municipality, hosting guests and participants from 32 countries.

The fifth international conference Taboo - Transgression - Transcendence in Art & Science will take place September 27–29, 2023 in Valletta, Malta. TTT is an interdisciplinary and nomadic event, where both practitioners as well as theorists present and discuss the status of art-science and/or art & technology. TTT, created by Dalila Honorato, Assoc. Professor, Dept Audio & Visual Arts of the Ionian University, is based on the support of a large informal network of international researchers and practitioners that develop their activities at the edge of art and science intersections. The conference language is English. Proposals must be sent electronically through the EasyChair submissions system until January 31st, 2023.

While the call for proposals to the conference Taboo – Transgression - Transcendence in Art & Science 2023 taking place at the Malta Society of Arts in Valletta is open until the end of January 2023, the main core of the proceedings of TTT2020 Vienna/Online have just been released in an open access publication in digital format (e-Book), with ISBN number 978-960-7260-70-3.

Do you want to understand and design digital Augmented Reality applications? Can you imagine visiting the museum in a different, more interactive way? The University Museum in collaboration with the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University, offers to the general public the "Creative Workshop of Interactive Educational Experiences in the Museum using Augmented Reality".

On Wednesday December 14th, 2022, (17:00-19:00 pm), Dr. Dalila Honorato, and Dr Tania Tsiridou, docents of the Department of Audio & Visual Arts, invite you to the guest lecture “The body as text: the interaction between body and technology in performance art” by the post-doc researcher Dr. Eleni Kolliopoulou. The lecture will be hybrid (room YK3 and online), within the frame of the course "Semiotic Analysis of New Media" of the Postgraduate Programme in Audiovisual Arts "MA: Audiovisual Arts in the Digital Age". It is supported by the Laboratory of Interactive Arts (InArts Lab).

The Department of Audio & Visual Arts of the Ionian University organized the 4th International Conference Digital Culture & AudioVisual Challenges (DCAC-2022) which took place on Friday 13 May 2022 online and on Saturday 14 May 2022, hybrid at the Ionian Academy in Corfu (Greece). On Monday, December 5th, 2022, in Aretaios Building-room 3, of the Dept. of Audio & Visual Arts – Ionian University, from 11:00 to 13:00, Assoc. Prof. Dalila Honorato and Art Staff Christina Mitsani have the pleasure to invite you to the guest-lecture “Storyfronts an interactive storytelling documentary and video game” by the Canadian visiting-artist Elizabeth Littlejohn. This lecture is organized as part of the "THE302-Philosophy & Media Aesthetics" and "VIS130-Analogue Drawing", and is supported by the Interactive Arts Laboratory, the Program for the design of an Erasmus+ MA in Art, Science and Health, and the Gender Equality Committee of the Ionian University. 

The fourth Ionian Contemporary Animation Festival ICONA 2022, organized and promoted by the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University had exceeded our expectations with more than 1.300 submissions.

In the context of the research activity of the Interactive Arts Laboratory (InArts) of the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University, the Art Boulevard search engine, an academic project that aims to assist with the diffusion of Art and Culture related content, while at the same collecting useful information about the needs and wants of people looking for such content online.

Released in July 2022, the new book published in Zagreb, Croatia, by KONTEJNER, with title Arc-hive: Case Studies and Life as an Object, includes the article “Digital Semiotics for Biomedia Art” by Associate Professor of the Department of Audio & Visual Arts of the Ionian University Dalila Honorato. The book, with ISBN 978-953-7985-11-0 and editors Ena Hodžić, Olga Majcen Linn, Jurica Mlinarec and Luja Šimunović, is digitally available for free download.

A new international and transdisciplinary Master of Arts programme on the topic of Art, Science and Health will be showcased, tested and evaluated during a one-week Pilot Course held online in English language for a maximum of 40 participants, from Monday, November 7, to Friday, November 11, 2022, every day from 5.00 p.m. CET. Participation is free of admission.

Four participations from the Department of Audio & Visual Arts of the Ionian University this year at the international conference "FEMeeting: Women in Art, Science and Technology": Associate Professor Mrs. Dalila Honorato presenting “Meet HAL: Hub of Arts Laboratories and how to do lab networking”, special teaching staff Mrs. Christina Mitsani (Special Educational Personnel), PhD candidate Mrs. Styliani-Anna Klimatsaki and the postdoctoral researcher Dr Marina Markellou. As a highly international community, the program of FEMeeting 2022 “FEMeeting: Women in Art, Science and Technology” includes 95 presentations by 109 speakers from 27 countries as well as other activities to encourage communication among its participants. Taking place from 12 to 17 September 2022, the third conference has its kick-off in Lisbon, at the Institute of Molecular Medicine, and continues its program in the city of Évora, hosted in the Convento de São Bento de Castris and the Fundação Eugénio de Almeida.

The announcement of the bases of admission to the Higher Educational Institutions for the academic year 2022-2023 had some very positive elements for the Department of Audio & Visual Arts that highlight its distinct and unique physiognomy, while at the same time confirming its upward trajectory that continued this year.

The academic calendar for the year 2022-2023 is published with dates on tuition, exams and holidays.

The “Welcome to Planet B” Festival University 2022, a joint initiative between Ars Electronica and Johannes Kepler University Linz (JKU), invites students from around the world to jointly develop planetary strategies for change and transformation. This second edition of the Festival University takes place in Linz August 18 – September 14, 2022. Deadline: June 30th, 2022.

For the purposes of filming "My big fat Greek Wedding 3" we are looking for people who want to be part of this experience, in order to to work with our production teams behing the scenes as paid crew. The 15th Audiovisual Arts Festival organised by the Department of Audio & Visual Arts in collaboration with the ΕΡΗΜΕΕ laboratory of the Department of Music Studies of the Ionian University chose the Environment Day, Sunday, June 5th to celebrate at the estate of Mon Repo the end of its rich program. The volunteers of the Festival, of whom we are very proud and to whom we are obliged, undertake the organisation of the closing event, the same people who undertook the opening on May 12th. We are invited to a celebration for relaxation and decompression with respect for the natural environment and its ideals.

On June 1-3, a meeting of the ASH-MA consortium for the design of a new Art, Science & Health MA program with participants from Croatia, Serbia and Greece, will take place in Corfu. The program was launched in February 2022 by the Croatian NGO Kontejner, Bureau of Contemporary Art Praxis and three universities: Academy of Fine Arts - University of Zagreb (Zagreb, Croatia), Department of Audio and Visual Arts - Ionian University (Corfu, Greece) and Faculty of Media and Communication - Singidunum University (Belgrade, Serbia).

On Sunday, May 29, 2022, within the framework of the 15th Audiovisual Arts Festival, screenings dedicated to the work of Iannis Xenakis will be streamed online.
