In the framework of the Panhellenic festival "Electroacoustic Music Days 2024", Saturday 2 November, the work "59 Winds" is presented, which the Professor of the Dept. of Audio & Visual Arts, Apostolos Loufopoulos, composed in collaboration with Myrto Korkokiou, flutist, composer and doctoral researcher the Ionian University. The work has been awarded 1st prize at the Franco Evangelisti composition competition (Italy) and has been published in sheet music by Zerboni (Milan) and Forton Music (London).

The central idea in 59 winds is the exploration of the element of air, an element fundamental to flute playing and to the natural sound world (wind). The sense of the behaviours of 'wind' is developed on different levels through the use of flute sounds, which are produced using specific special techniques (wind tones, flutter-tonguing etc.). In the electronic part these sounds are sculpted through electronic media and mixed with artificial sound elements (synthetic sounds), which often imitate natural sound behaviours.

Electroacoustic Music Days 2024 will take place between 1-3 November, at the theatre of the Athens School of Fine Arts (ASFA), in Athens.

The festival takes place in the context of the 22nd annual meeting of the members of the Hellenic Association of Electroacoustic Music Composers (ESSIM). The intention of the event is to present the contemporary trends in electroacoustic / acoustic music in Greece and abroad. The festival has been held continuously since 2002 and is one of the longest running festivals of electroacoustic music internationally.

During the 3 days of the festival, 14 concerts will take place and a total of 76 works will be performed. The programme includes works for fixed media - among them 13 octaves - works for video, works accompanied by live performance on analogue electronics, computer system, acoustic instruments or voice, as well as sound installations. As every year, a concert of works from the International Confederation of Electroacoustic Music (CIME/ICEM) is planned. The programme includes a concert for double bass, fixed instrument and electronics with Haris Pazaroulas, where among other works, the work En Pyri by Stephanos Vassiliadis (1933-2004) will be performed. The works will be presented with a speaker orchestra around the audience.
