On Monday 9 December 2024 at 12pm, Room TP3, artist Matthias Fritsch will give a lecture entitled "Permakunst: Art, Networks and Sustainability". The lecture is part of the course "THE906 Practice of Exhibition Design" taught by Daphne Dragona.
Abstract
Can artworks respect the principles of sustainability? What does it mean to produce a living sculpture from mushrooms? How does it relate to the structure and logic of the internet? In his lecture, Matthias Fritsch will talk about creating artworks that take into account the cycles of matter and the ethics of permaculture. Defining his practice as Permakunst, he will address the needs of producing, presenting and maintaining such projects, and refer to their connection to other practices and digital media.
