The documentary entitled "When the fire goes out, only the ashes remain..." deals with a subject that is commonplace nowadays, but at the same time very personal to my grandmother's heart. This issue is the desolation of the villages in Greece. Especially in the last decades, society has been subjected to a variety of rapid developments in the social, political, economic and other sectors, leading to changes in the distribution of the population, which is now concentrated in cities. This phenomenon of urbanization is not new. However, in my grandmother's eyes, isolation has intensified in recent years, as she began to lose her peers from the village, a small village in Central Macedonia where she has spent her entire life. Thus, a five-minute visit to my grandmother is enough to present the feelings of someone who is experiencing firsthand the desolation of a once active community.
