DOCUMENTARY
Four short documentaries created for the undergraduate course “History, Theory & Practice of Documentary”.
1. Aghia Irene: Ferrying across opposite coasts
by Evgenia Pouli, Marina Satanaki and Melina Schina
The round trip of ferry “Aghia Irene” that connects the opposite ports of Corfu and Igoumenitsa. The experiences, feelings and thoughts of the crew during their shift.
2. Mr. Yorgos: A Portrait
by Constantina Glynidi – Messini, Eva Gogou and Sotiris Skerlidis
The portrait of Mr. Yorgos, an elder lathe worker in Corfu, who remembers stories from the Second World War.
3. The island of Lotus-eaters
by Spiros Christoforatos, Giorgos Magoulas and Andreas Vouliakis
A “City Symphony”: While known from the Antiquity as the island of the Phaeacians, Corfu can be for some the land of the Lotus-eaters.
4. Virtual Hero
by Jim Georgossopoulos and Jim Mouschoulis
Meeting musician Bob Katsionis and the metal band “Outloud”.
SILENT CINEMA & FILM NOIR
Three short films created by students for the undergraduate course “Film History & Theory”. They draw on the style of silent cinema and film noir.
1. The Lost Head
by Aris Melachroinos
Through modern techniques, this short film recreates the “magic effects” of Georges Méliès in his film Un homme de têtes (1898).
2. A Coffee Odyssey
by Eleftherios Hatzianastasiou
A playful parody that draws on the work of comedian Harry Langdon and the slapstick comedies of silent cinema.
3. Noir
by Constantina Glynidi – Messini
An exercise of style that reworks visual and narrative elements of film noir and the cinema of Alfred Hitchcock.
