Video
Public Screening
In the framework of the 13 Audiovisual Arts Festival of the Audio and Visual Arts section, Nikos Kokkalis presents the video VI Scenes from a Civil War in a public screening on a giant screen on Thursday 9 May in Plakada. The XNUMtime video will be displayed in repeat from 7: 21 to 23:30
In video VI Scenes from a Civil War two men meet to destroy each other. Separated in six episodes-days, corresponding to those of biblical creation and titles from the Genesis book, the work presents a course of six days to the disaster.
VI Scenes from a Civil War is a political allegory. During the four years of the project's work, three were the causes: the first, concerns the discovery of the frequency of civil wars on birthday land. The second, in accepting the view that an economic crisis is, in essence, profoundly social. Finally, SF's speech: "... we are people who recognize ourselves through the eyes of the other. We are people who only give us the picture of the environment, we understand ourselves. That is why the other is always a threat to us. "
Thus, the work deals with a struggle that aims at extermination, not so much of the "opposite" as it is of itself. The "opposite", the "other", actually works as a mirror. The "other" is self.
