Short Description:
A workshop that explores the possibilities of body performance through a historical and theoretical discussion of extreme sport, dance and contemporary performance art. Philosophies related to the body such as Dualism, Phenomenology, Feminist discourse, Queer Theory and Cyborg discourse expose the problematics of what a body is and how a body operates and interfaces with the world.


Short CV
Stelarc is a performance artist who explores alternate anatomical architectures. He is Honorary Professor of Art and Robotics at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh and holds an Honorary Doctorate of Laws from Monash University, Melbourne. In 2010 he was awarded the Ars Electronica prize in Hybrid Arts. He received the Australia Council’s Emerging and Experimental Arts Award in 2015 and is currently a Distinguished Research Fellow in the School of Design and Art (SODA) at Curtin University, Perth. His work is represented by the Scott Livesey Galleries, Melbourne.
