Recycle Sounds

Sotiris Dovas, Dimitris-Eirinaios Gousteris, Zagient-Pantoglou Nour-Charalampos, Plaskasovitis Grigoris

Our project, in the context of Environment Day, deals with and promotes the responsible act of recycling. An act that is appropriate to be deduced to a habit that unfortunately has not been soaked in the culture of the modern Greek. In order to raise awareness and mobilize citizens about recycling, an interactive experience of throwing waste and recyclable materials into recycle bins was created, which rewards their proper use by reproducing sound signals. The reward that each person will receive, will result from the opening of the bucket, utilizing special light sensors that will receive a value proportional to the intensity of the light they will receive and then the audio file will pass through special sound alteration filters, which will be sent to the speakers for playback. The sound effect will vary depending on the bucket chosen by the person and also on the intensity of the light that the person will let in. Through this interaction, a sense of satisfaction is created in the person, while at the same time pleasant feelings are created when listening to the reward, instilling the association between recycling and positive emotions, which push the person to develop this habit.
