The first Ionian Contemporary Animation Festival ICONA 2019, organized by the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University (within the framework of the CIAK Intereg program) will take place in Corfu from the 29th of November until the 1st of December 2019.

The organizing committee of the Ionian Contemporary Animation Festival ICONA 2019 would like to call on all students who so wish to take part in the Festival’s team of volunteers and support the organization, thanks to their own special knowledge and skills. The first Ionian Contemporary Animation Festival ICONA 2019, organized by the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University within the framework of the CIAK Interreg program under the scientific supervision of Assistant Professor Michalis Panagopoulos, had a great participation with almost 1.000 submissions of movies. Although competition was fierce, the committee's work was successfully completed with a selection of 135 films - 72 short films and 63 student films – from 48 countries.

The ebook with the proceedings of the interdisciplinary conference Taboo-Transgression-Transcendence in Art & Science 2018 was published by the Ionian University - Department of Audio & Visual Arts in November 2019. This digital publication includes 20 contributions, in English, proposed and accepted by the scientific and artistic committee of TTT2018. Edited by Dalila Honorato, María Antonia González Valerio, Marta de Menezes and Andreas Giannakoulopoulos, this is the second and main core of the presentations of TTT2018.

The aim of the first Ionian Contemporary Animation Festival ICONA 2019, which is organized by the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University (within the framework of the CIAK Intereg program) is to present the best from the field of animation from all around the world. The festival also aims to preserve and help develop the cultural heritage of short animated film, contribute to creation of new films, provide ground for potential international co-productions and encourage dialogue between professionals, filmmakers and the public.

Apulia Film Commission will organize the second weekly part of the Screenwriting Workshop “Greece-Puglia Experience”, one of the activities of the project CIAK, from 9 to 15 October 2019 at Bari Cineporto.

The interactive audiovisual theatrical performance INRIRI questions the adaptation of an archetypal myth at a time of many dimensions and levels with elements from physical theater and embedded interactive technology in the performing space.

Interreg V-A Greece-Italy Programme launches an amateur video competition to celebrate the European Cooperation Day! Participants will have to make a very short video (maximum duration: 40 seconds) responding very briefly to the question: Why EUROPE IS YOU?? (how Europe benefits you), which is the slogan of the EC DAY 2019 campaign. The deadline is 30 June 2019.

The Region of Ionian Islands, Project Partner of CIAK Project (“Common Initiatives to AcKnowledge and valorize tourism potential of the programme area through cinema”), will organize an Info Day in Corfu on Tuesday 4 June 2019, at 12:00 at the Boardroom of Region of Corfu (Sp. Samara 13, Corfu), in order to present the Project, its future activities and the next steps for its smooth implementation.

Apulia Film Commission Foundation organised a press conference yesterday at Bari Cineporto, in order to present “Memory” call- winning directors in the frame of Greece-Italy cooperation project CIAK. Simonetta Dellomonaco, President of Apulia Film Commission Foundation, announced the names of the 10 winning under-35 directors.

The Greece – Puglia Experience Screenwriting Workshop Participants Evaluation Results have been announced. According to the rule concerning the geographical origin of the participants (5 from Apulia region, 5 from Ionian Islands, Western Greece, Epirus and 5 from Other regions) the committee has selected 2 participants from Greek regions, since only 2 over 6 candidates scored more than 50%.

The Info Day in the framework of the CIAK ("Common Initiatives to AcKnowledge and Valorize the Tourism Potential of the Program Area through Cinema") project was held with great success on Wednesday, February 13, 2019. In the context of the event, the project actions that are being implemented were presented in detail, with emphasis on the Memory Greece – Italy Call, which aims to finance 10 short film productions, the script-writing seminar, scheduled for three weeks in Corfu, Ioannina and Bari, and the forthcoming animation festival to be held in the city of Corfu.

Inauguration of the digital exhibition on the occasion of the final meeting of "BYZART - Byzantine Art and Archaeology on Europeana" project will be held on the 15th of February 2019 at 10.30 a.m.
