OPEN ART is a distance learning platform for the development of training programs, training, educational seminars and practice of the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University. The subject of the programmes is the field of Art in the Information Age. OPEN ART is part of the Training and Lifelong Learning Centre (KEDIVIM) of the Ionian University.
Who it is aimed at
Its courses are addressed to people who wish to engage in the enhancement of their artistic activity in the Digital Age in the context of open technologies and programming environments. The seminars and workshops draw their themes from the field of Art, Science, Technology, Society. They are organized and implemented by faculty members of the Department of Audio and Visual Arts and invited artists (see ARTIST LAB program) with interdisciplinary interests, training and inspiration.
Students and graduates of the Schools of Fine and Applied Arts, Architecture, Product Design, Music Studies, Computer Engineering, Computer Engineering, E/M Engineering, hobbyists and generally anyone who wishes to create interactive artworks and explore New Media, creative programming and interactive installations using sensors are encouraged to participate. As in recent years interactive technologies have penetrated into education, museums and libraries, it is important that teachers, archaeologists, museologists, librarians participate in open technology educational programmes in order to update their subject matter and synchronise them with international trends in the digital transformation of society.
Programme
The OPEN ART programme starts with three quarterly Art & Technology courses and a year-long integrated 'Artistic Practice' module. The subject area of interactive open technologies and programming environments is covered by two workshops: the 'Arduino' and 'Processing-P5' workshops. The theoretical part concerns the pedagogy of New Media in the Public Sphere. The course 'Interactive Arts & Performance in Public Space' is dedicated to research and understanding the relationship between Interactive Arts and experiential learning - education and Public Space.
OPEN ART opens the curtain of the Training and Lifelong Learning Centre (KEDIVIM) of the Ionian University by providing participants with a 20% discount on its inaugural programmes. The deadline for submitting applications for participation in OPEN LAB's active programmes is 1 April 2020.
OPEN ART:
Encourages the interconnection of programs with the structures of the Department of Audio and Visual Arts and the Ionian University.
Invites participants during the workshops to attend the academic, educational and artistic activities of the annual Audiovisual Arts Festival.
Creates the necessary conditions for the projection of the results of the workshops in the artistic activities of the Festival.
Certification
The OPEN ART programme, following the European Framework for the Accreditation of Lifelong Learning, awards the "Certificate of Training" for successful participation. The above-mentioned certificates indicate in detail, among other things, the subjects in which the trainee participated and the hours of training completed. The Ionian University, following the European Framework for the Accreditation of Lifelong Learning, awards, in addition to the "Certificate of Training", a "Certificate Supplement" which details, among other things, the subjects in which the trainee participated, the hours of training completed and the Vocational Education and Training Credits (ECVET) that are guaranteed and which can be "transferred" for recognition to educational and / or professional institutions in Europe.
ECTS can and do award ECTS or ECVET credits to learners who have successfully completed a programme.
Participating instructors of the ARTIST LAB sub-programme receive a certificate certifying that they belong to the Register of Instructors of the Training and Lifelong Learning Centre (KEDIVIM) of the Ionian University.
The Training and Lifelong Learning Centre of the Ionian University aims to connect the University with the people of science and culture and to interact with the citizens in a way that satisfies the real needs of society, promotes equality of access to education and knowledge and promotes Greek culture and the domestic economy. The activities of the Centre may take a variety of forms, which are determined by respective social needs in the contemporary world, linking theoretical and practical knowledge, developing, above all, the applied dimension of the sciences in the respective professional fields.
