The 17th Audiovisual Arts Festival (AVfest) celebrates this year the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Department of Audio & Visual Arts of the Ionian University highlighting the Department's unique contribution to the development of audiovisual arts. The promotional video of the 17th AVfest refers to the wind of culture blowing across the city of Corfu during the days of the festival, giving color and creative breath to the corners of the city.

The ‘INSAP’ meeting [May 20th-24th, 2024] in Ionian Academy - 1, Kapodistriou str., Corfu marks the twelfth in the series of Conferences on the Inspiration of Astronomical Phenomena and will explore humanity’s fascination with the sky by day and by night - which has been a strong and often dominant element in human life and culture.

AV-school, the series of seminars and workshops of the Audiovisual Arts Festival, will be held at the Public Central Historic Library at Corfu from May 28th to May 31st, 2024. AV-School 2024 theme is “Impressions” and it celebrates the Department of Audio and Visual Arts’ 20th Anniversary. The program is open to all those interested in contemporary art issues and new technologies, focusing this year in topics related with film, performance art, radio, gaming and art research. Registration for both workshops and seminars is free, and attendees will receive a certificate of attendance.

Applications are now open for TTTfellows: Art and Science Residency - Fall 2024, co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union and the Ionian University within the Feral Labs Network. Dedicated to issues related to new reproductive technologies, TTTfellows is taking place on 23 September - 4 October 2024 (online) and 7-18 October 2024 (on-place) on the island of Corfu. Deadline for applications: 6 June 2024. Results announcement: 21 June 2024.

Assoc. Prof. Dalila Honorato, Director of the InArts Lab at the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University, participates as a guest-speaker at the Bio Art Forum taking place in Novi Sad, Serbia, on May 16-18, 2024, as part of the project Bio Awaking. The specific objectives of the project include developing a network of bio artists across Europe, strengthening the capacities of European artists in utilizing biomaterials, and creating bio art installations using environmental samples. Additionally, the project will focus on involving decision-makers in all phases of the process, fostering an audience for bio art that supports environmental conservation, and nurturing cultural, artistic, and educational collaboration in addressing environmental challenges in Europe and the Balkans.

On Tuesday May 14th, 2024, 13:00-15:00 pm at room ΤΑΒΜ 2.39, Emeritus Professor Rob Kesseler, Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London, will be presenting “Butterflies in Art and in Corfu” as a guest-lecturer of the Dept. of Audio & Visual Arts within the framework of the course "THE202-Communication Theory". Lisek, Clarissa Ribeiro and Adam Zaretsky will be performing XenoZombie as guest of the Ionian University within the framework of the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Department of Audio & Visual Arts. The Department of Audio & Visual Arts of the Ionian University organizes the 6th International Conference Digital Culture & AudioVisual Challenges (DCAC-2024) which will be held in hybrid way - online and in the Ionian Academy in Corfu (Greece), on Friday 24 May and on Saturday 25 May 2024. Also on 26-27 May, 2024 the joint conference "Art in the Age of Artificial Intelligence" will take place.
