AvSchool, the educational component of the 18th Audiovisual Arts Festival, was successfully concluded on Friday, May 16, 2025. The event was organized by the Department of Audio & Visual Arts of the Ionian University in collaboration with the ERHMEE Lab of the Department of Music Studies.

AKOYSMATA is the annual series of events presented by the Laboratory of Electroacoustic Music Research and Applications (ΕΡΗΜΕΕ) in collaboration with the Laboratory of Performance Environments in the Arts (PEARL) at the Festival of Audiovisual Arts organized by the Department of AudioVisual Arts of the Ionian University. The concert includes pieces composed by faculty composers from the Department of AudioVisual Arts and the Department of Music Studies

The AVARTS Live Game Hub is an action that aims to bring together new game designers and creators and promote their ideas to the public. It is organized by teachers of the Department of Audio and Visual Arts with a coordinating core of Vasileios Komianos, Varvara Garnelis, and Emmanouel Rovithis, and participated by students who are actively involved in creating games.

Undergraduate students of the Department of Audiovisual Art present their final projects as part of the 18th festival. The course examines the concept of performance through the development of visual arts, performance art, experimental theater, multimedia performance, and visual installations.

On Thursday 08/05/2025 at 19:30 the opening of the Main Exhibition of the 18th Audiovisual Arts Festival, which will take place in Corfu, from Thursday 8 to Sunday 18 May 2025, will be held by the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University.

The exhibition showcases visual artworks created by students of the Department of Audio and Visual Arts at the Ionian University. Exhibition dates: May 3 – 13, 2025

The AV-school, the seminar and workshop series of the Audio-Visual Arts Festival, will take place at the Public Central Historical Library of Corfu, from May 12 to 16, 2025. This year’s theme, "Intersections", invites participants from all backgrounds who are interested in contemporary art and new technologies.

The aim of the Ionian Contemporary Animation Festival ICONA 2024 is to present the best from the field of animation from all around the world. The festival also aims to preserve and help develop the cultural heritage of animated film, contribute to creation of new films, provide ground for potential international co-productions and encourages dialogue between professionals, filmmakers and the public. A delegation of the Ionian University led by the Rector, Professor Andreas Floros, paid an official visit to China from 18 to 28 September 2024.

The 17th Audiovisual Arts Festival, a central event of the celebrations for the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Department of Audio & Visual Arts (AVARTS) of the Ionian University, ended on Sunday (02/06) with great success and large public attendance. An amateur theatre company struggling to put on a production of Pirandello's "Leonora, addio!" finds its members constantly at odds with each other, while at the same time having to follow the instructions of an authoritarian director who presents their play as nothing less than a gift from God.

The VR film that represented Greece at the 59th Venice Art Biennale is shown in an installation specifically designed for the Ionian Parliament as part of the Audio Visual Arts Festival 2024.

Students and graduates of the Ionian University present a tribute exhibition in memory of Iro Feidia, AVARTS graduate. The aim is to display her illustrative and digital artwork, but also to portray her as an individual, fellow student and friend. Despite her time being short, the plurality and diversity of her work is remarkable.

The Department of Audio & Visual Arts, of the Ionian University in Corfu organizes the 6th International Conference Digital Culture & AudioVisual Challenges: Interdisciplinary Creativity in Arts and Technology (DCAC- 2024, May 24-25). Dedicated to issues related to new reproductive technologies, TTTlabs: BioFeral.BeachCamp (BFBC) II under the theme New Repro-Zombie Studies (NR-ZS) - Undead Bioart / Bodyart on the Beach is taking place on 5-14 April 2024 (on-place) on the island of Crete. 

The fifth international conference Taboo - Transgression - Transcendence in Art & Science will take place September 27–29, 2023 in Valletta, Malta. Approximately 170 speakers from more than 30 countries focused (a) on questions about the nature of the forbidden and about the aesthetics of liminality, and (b) on the opening of spaces for creative transformation in the merging of science and art.

Hub of Art Laboratories (otherwise known as HAL), one of the most ambitious and innovative research programmes ever carried out by the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University, will receive its first major showcase at the upcoming Taboo – Transgression – Transcendence in Art & Science Interdisciplinary Conference, held in Valletta, Malta, between 26 and 29 September 2023.

The National Section of the International Council of Organizations of Folklore Festivals and Folk Arts CIOFF®, official partner of UNESCO, the IONIAN UNIVERSITY and the Educational & Cultural Association of Sinies – Corfu,  organize the International CIOFF® Festival of Mediterranean Cultures, in Corfu, 6-10 September 2023.
