TTT is an interdisciplinary and nomadic event, where both practitioners as well as theorists present and discuss the status of art-science and/or art & technology. TTT, created by Dalila Honorato, Assoc. Professor, Dept Audio & Visual Arts of the Ionian University, is based on the support of a large informal network of international researchers and practitioners that develop their activities at the edge of art and science intersections. The TTT conference series is supported by its Steering Committee whose members include: Roy Ascott (UK), Andreas Floros (GR), Dalila Honorato (GR/PT), Gunalan Nadarajan (US), Melentie Pandilovski (AU/MK), Stelarc (AU), Polona Tratnik (SI) and Adam Zaretsky (US/GR). TTT has been hosted at the Ionian University (2016-2017), Mexico (2018), Austria-Online (2020) and will soon be hosted in Malta (2023).

The fifth international conference Taboo - Transgression - Transcendence in Art & Science will take place September 27–29, 2023 in Valletta, Malta. Approximately 170 speakers from more than 30 countries focused (a) on questions about the nature of the forbidden and about the aesthetics of liminality, and (b) on the opening of spaces for creative transformation in the merging of science and art, participate.

Besides the conference sessions, TTT2023 Malta presents its art-show entitled RawCookedRotten, which includes an exhibition and performances, as an invitation “to explore the dimensions of food and reflect as well on the complex meanings and relationships between Eating and Beingeaten”. The program includes contributions by the Rewilding Cultures Consortium, Hub of Art Laboratories, KONTEJNER bureau of contemporary art practice and Cultivamos Cultura.

Co-funded for the first time by the Ionian University and the European Union, TTT2023 Malta is being organized within the framework of the project Rewilding Cultures by the Feral Labs Network under Creative Europe, counting with further support by the Interactive Arts Laboratory of the Ionian UniversityTechnoetic Arts: a Journal of Speculative Research published by Intellect and the hosting institution Malta Society of Arts.

The Hub of Art Laboratories of the Ionian University participates in the international conference TTT-2023 [Malta, 26-29/09/2023]
Hub of Art Laboratories (otherwise known as HAL), one of the most ambitious and innovative research programmes ever carried out by the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University, will receive its first major showcase at the upcoming Taboo – Transgression – Transcendence in Art & Science Interdisciplinary Conference, held in Valletta, Malta, between 26 and 29 September 2023. In accordance with what has been one of the Conference’s key themes since its initial inception, HAL’s presence at TTT 2023 Malta is focused on the convergence between art, technology and science and how innovative, creative and beneficial that convergence can be. Through a series of talks, performances and installations, the members of HAL will showcase the programme’s research on a wide range of cutting-edge fields, including: Gamification, VR technology and the metaverse, AI, Telematic arts, BioArt, Sound Art and sound technology.
