The announcement of the bases of admission to the Higher Educational Institutions for the academic year 2022-2023 had some very positive elements for the Department of Audio & Visual Arts that highlight its distinct and unique physiognomy, while at the same time confirming its upward trajectory that continued this year.

This weekend May 28-29th 2022 in Corfu town the program of the 15th Audiovisual Arts Festival has a strong presence of events with works by students of the Department of Audio & Visual Arts of the Ionian University.

As part of the 15th Festival of Audiovisual Arts, the Photography Laboratory of the Department of Audio & Visual Arts is organizing the 15th Photography Exhibition, which will take place at the Prisons of the Old Fortress, in Corfu. Opening: Friday, 13/5/22, 20:00. Exhibition Duration: 13/05/2022 - 29-05-2022. Exhibition Curator: Antonis Zivas, Assistant Professor, Department of Audio & Visual Arts.

From Monday 2 to Friday 7 May, Ms Haruka Hirayama, Mr. Hideaki Isobe (Professors of Computer Music, Music Technology and New Media at Hokkaido Information University and Tokyo Music College) are visiting Corfu as guests of the European project EASTN-DC  (European Art-Science-Technology Network, Digital Creativity) and the Audiovisual Arts Festival of the Department of Audio & Visual Arts of the Ionian University, to develop and show projects at the Studio of the Municipal and Regional Theatre of Corfu.

The program of the 15th Audiovisual Arts Festival, which will take place on Μay 12th to June 5th 2022, covers, as every year, a wide range of artistic, educational and scientific activities.

AV-school, the series of seminars and workshops of the Audiovisual Arts Festival, is taking place online this year from 15 to 20 May 2022.

The 14th Audiovisual Arts Festival programme completed with great success its artistic, educational and scientific activities. The live activities lasted 18 days, from 13 to 31 May 2021. The steering committee of the 14th Audiovisual Arts Festival warmly thanks its audiences for their support to all the actions throught these days: the particularly encouraging comments strengthen the efforts for the next Audiovisual Arts Festival!

The European Art Science Technology Network, Digital Creativity (EASTN-DC) at the 14th AudioVisual Arts Festival. May 26 - May 30, 2021.

AV-school, the series of seminars and workshops of the Audiovisual Arts Festival, is taking place online this year from 24 to 27 May 2021. Among others, instructors at AV-school 2021 are the guest-artists: Filippos Tsitsopoulos, Barbara Douka, Adam Zaretsky and Marta de Menezes.

On Thursday, December 31st, 2020 and Friday, January 1st, 2021, the streaming of the projection mapping and the in situ performance which was created within the framework of the celebration by the Region of Ionian Islands for the 200th anniversary of the 1821 revolution took place. The artwork that will be projected, entitled "Sound and Light 1821 - 2021", was designed and implemented entirely by the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University.

On September 12-13, 2018, the project “Common Initiatives to AcKnowledge and valorize tourism potential of the programme area through cinema” (CIAK) was launched through its kickoff meeting that took place in Bari, Italy. CIAK is funded by the Interreg V-A Greece-Italy Programme 2014-2020 and the kickoff meeting was hosted by the lead partner, the Foundation Apulia Film Commission. Ionian University is a CIAK project partner, represented by the Department of Audio and Visual Arts, being responsible for organizing and delivering the planned educational activities starting in 2019, as well as theme-specific festivals.
