Ionian University / Dept. of Audio & Visual Arts was selected by the Greek Diaspora Fellowship Program (GDFP) to host an scholar from Canada to work with on a collaborative project on Game Audio, Sound Design and Augmented Reality Audio. Professor Andreas Floros will lead the project, together with Prof. Bill Kapralos, a Fellow from University of Ontario Institute of Technology, Ontario, Canada.

The Ionian University, Project Partner of CIAK Project, organized the third and last weekly part of the Screenwriting Workshop in Corfu, Greece on November 26 – December 1, 2019 at the Audiovisual Arts department premises. During the three weekly workshop sessions (hosted in Ioannina, Bari and Corfu respectively), 15 ascendant cinema screenwriters from all over the world attended intensive courses and gained personal supervision towards the development of their personal scenario.

The first Ionian Contemporary Animation Festival ICONA 2019, organized by the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University within the framework of the CIAK Interreg program under the scientific supervision of Assistant Professor Michalis Panagopoulos, had a great participation with almost 1.000 submissions of movies. Although competition was fierce, the committee's work was successfully completed with a selection of 135 films - 72 short films and 63 student films – from 48 countries.

The Greece – Puglia Experience Screenwriting Workshop Participants Evaluation Results have been announced. According to the rule concerning the geographical origin of the participants (5 from Apulia region, 5 from Ionian Islands, Western Greece, Epirus and 5 from Other regions) the committee has selected 2 participants from Greek regions, since only 2 over 6 candidates scored more than 50%.

Τhe "THE OX" of the graduate of the Department of Audio and Visual Arts and doctoral candidate, George Nikopoulos, is the only Greek production that competes for the Emile Awards 2018 / European Animation Awards in the category of "Best Soundtrack in a Feature Film". The soundtrack is composed by Dimitra Trypani, Assistant Professor of the Department of Music Studies of the Ionian University.
