George Rorris belongs in the generation that appeared in the Greek art scene in the mid 80's. He is one of the most representational artists of his generation, creating realistic works and working exclusively with subjects that pose in his studio.
Born in the village of Kosmas of Kynouria (Arcadia, Peloponnese) in 1963, George Rorris was a student of Panagiotis Tetsis and Yiannis Valavanides at the Athens School of Fine Arts (1982-1987). He went on to pursue his studies at the Parisian École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts under Leonardo Cremonini (1988-1991) thanks to a Basil and Elise Goulandris Foundation scholarship coupled with a P. Bakala Brothers Foundation grant. In Athens, George Rorris worked with the cultural centre Apopsi from 1996-2002. In 2002 he began working with ‘Simio’ Art Group, where he tutors painters. In 2001 he received the Academy of Athens award for new painters under the age of 40. In 2006 the Alexandros S. Onassis Public Benefit Foundation conferred an honourable distinction for his work. He maintained a permanent collaboration with Medusa Art Gallery, in Athens, since his first solo exhibition there in 1988, until 2017. Works by him can be found in public and private collections. He lives and works in Athens
