Interreg V-A Greece-Italy Programme launches an amateur video competition to celebrate the European Cooperation Day! Participants will have to make a very short video (maximum duration: 40 seconds) responding very briefly to the question: Why EUROPE IS YOU?? (how Europe benefits you), which is the slogan of the EC DAY 2019 campaign. The deadline is 30 June 2019.

Apulia Film Commission Foundation organised a press conference yesterday at Bari Cineporto, in order to present “Memory” call- winning directors in the frame of Greece-Italy cooperation project CIAK. Simonetta Dellomonaco, President of Apulia Film Commission Foundation, announced the names of the 10 winning under-35 directors.

The Greece – Puglia Experience Screenwriting Workshop Participants Evaluation Results have been announced. According to the rule concerning the geographical origin of the participants (5 from Apulia region, 5 from Ionian Islands, Western Greece, Epirus and 5 from Other regions) the committee has selected 2 participants from Greek regions, since only 2 over 6 candidates scored more than 50%.

The Embassy of Mexico send the call for entries to participate in the International Environmental Short Film Festival ECOFILM, which will take place in Mexico from September 29th to October 6th 2019. The deadline for submissions is June 27th 2019.

The SDGs in Action Film Festival, coordinated by the UN DESA Division for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), is a competition seeking short films that highlight how people and organizations around the world are taking action for the 17 global goals. Submit your film until 26 April at filmfreeway.com/SDGinActionFilmFestival2019.

Τhe fourth international conference "Taboo - Transgression - Transcendence in Art & Science" will take place November 26–28, 2020, exclusively online as TTT2020 Vienna/Online, an umbilical cord between what would be and what it is.

During the Linux Audio Conference 2019 (LAC19), that will take place in University of Standford [23-26/3/2019], Ioannis Zannos, Professor and Deputy Head of the Department of Audio and Visual Arts, will present his project "IDE Fantasy", which is part of the EASTN-DC project and will make a presentation entitled "sc-hacks: A Live Coding Framework for Gestural Performance and Electronic Music". Ionian University represented by the Department of Audio & Visual Arts takes part in the project “Common Initiatives to AcKnowledge and valorize tourism potential of the programme area through cinema” (CIAK). The Department of Audiovisual Arts is responsible for organizing and delivering the planned educational activities starting in 2019, as well as theme-specific festivals. Τhe "THE OX" of the graduate of the Department of Audio and Visual Arts and doctoral candidate, George Nikopoulos, is the only Greek production that competes for the Emile Awards 2018 / European Animation Awards in the category of "Best Soundtrack in a Feature Film". The soundtrack is composed by Dimitra Trypani, Assistant Professor of the Department of Music Studies of the Ionian University.

On September 12-13, 2018, the project “Common Initiatives to AcKnowledge and valorize tourism potential of the programme area through cinema” (CIAK) was launched through its kickoff meeting that took place in Bari, Italy. CIAK is funded by the Interreg V-A Greece-Italy Programme 2014-2020 and the kickoff meeting was hosted by the lead partner, the Foundation Apulia Film Commission. Ionian University is a CIAK project partner, represented by the Department of Audio and Visual Arts, being responsible for organizing and delivering the planned educational activities starting in 2019, as well as theme-specific festivals.

The ebook with the proceedings of the interdisciplinary conference Taboo-Transgression-Transcendence in Art & Science 2017 was published by the Ionian University - Department of Audio & Visual Arts in September 2018. This digital publication includes 38 contributions, in Greek and English, of writers from 14 different countries, accepted by the scientific and artistic committee.  ΤΤΤ2017 Proceedings

Marianna Strapatsakis, artist and former Associate Professor of the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University will present her work at the exhibition entitled Shell // the politics of being at the 15th Kypseli High School in Athens.
