A new international and transdisciplinary Master of Arts programme on the topic of Art, Science and Health will be showcased, tested and evaluated during a one-week Pilot Course held online in English language for a maximum of 40 participants, from Monday, November 7, to Friday, November 11, 2022, every day from 5.00 p.m. CET. Participation is free of admission.

Four participations from the Department of Audio & Visual Arts of the Ionian University this year at the international conference "FEMeeting: Women in Art, Science and Technology": Associate Professor Mrs. Dalila Honorato presenting “Meet HAL: Hub of Arts Laboratories and how to do lab networking”, special teaching staff Mrs. Christina Mitsani (Special Educational Personnel), PhD candidate Mrs. Styliani-Anna Klimatsaki and the postdoctoral researcher Dr Marina Markellou. As a highly international community, the program of FEMeeting 2022 “FEMeeting: Women in Art, Science and Technology” includes 95 presentations by 109 speakers from 27 countries as well as other activities to encourage communication among its participants. Taking place from 12 to 17 September 2022, the third conference has its kick-off in Lisbon, at the Institute of Molecular Medicine, and continues its program in the city of Évora, hosted in the Convento de São Bento de Castris and the Fundação Eugénio de Almeida.

The announcement of the bases of admission to the Higher Educational Institutions for the academic year 2022-2023 had some very positive elements for the Department of Audio & Visual Arts that highlight its distinct and unique physiognomy, while at the same time confirming its upward trajectory that continued this year.

The “Welcome to Planet B” Festival University 2022, a joint initiative between Ars Electronica and Johannes Kepler University Linz (JKU), invites students from around the world to jointly develop planetary strategies for change and transformation. This second edition of the Festival University takes place in Linz August 18 – September 14, 2022. Deadline: June 30th, 2022.

For the purposes of filming "My big fat Greek Wedding 3" we are looking for people who want to be part of this experience, in order to to work with our production teams behing the scenes as paid crew. The 15th Audiovisual Arts Festival organised by the Department of Audio & Visual Arts in collaboration with the ΕΡΗΜΕΕ laboratory of the Department of Music Studies of the Ionian University chose the Environment Day, Sunday, June 5th to celebrate at the estate of Mon Repo the end of its rich program. The volunteers of the Festival, of whom we are very proud and to whom we are obliged, undertake the organisation of the closing event, the same people who undertook the opening on May 12th. We are invited to a celebration for relaxation and decompression with respect for the natural environment and its ideals.

On June 1-3, a meeting of the ASH-MA consortium for the design of a new Art, Science & Health MA program with participants from Croatia, Serbia and Greece, will take place in Corfu. The program was launched in February 2022 by the Croatian NGO Kontejner, Bureau of Contemporary Art Praxis and three universities: Academy of Fine Arts - University of Zagreb (Zagreb, Croatia), Department of Audio and Visual Arts - Ionian University (Corfu, Greece) and Faculty of Media and Communication - Singidunum University (Belgrade, Serbia).

On Sunday, May 29, 2022, within the framework of the 15th Audiovisual Arts Festival, screenings dedicated to the work of Iannis Xenakis will be streamed online. The participating countries are: Japan (participants: Nagoya City University και Tokyo University of the Arts), Greece (participants: Ionian University), France (participants: Centre Iannis Xenakis (CIX) ) and USA (participants: Xenakis Project of the Americas). This weekend May 28-29th 2022 in Corfu town the program of the 15th Audiovisual Arts Festival has a strong presence of events with works by students of the Department of Audio & Visual Arts of the Ionian University.

The 15th Audiovisual Arts Festival by the Department of Audio & Visual Arts of the Ionian University, in collaboration with the Chania Film Festival is organizing a discussion titled “Documentary in Education”. This discussion is addressing the educational community of Corfu, teachers of Primary and Secondary Education and aims to investigate the level of digital skills in education, to suggest new ways of thinking through programmes such as Art Education using New Media while, on the other hand, pointing out the difficulties in realizing innovative projects.

The AVARTS Live Game Hub is an action that aims to bring together new game designers and creators and promote their ideas to the public. It is organized by teachers of the Department of Audio and Visual Arts with a coordinating core of Vasileios Komianos, Varvara Garnelis, and Emmanouel Rovithis, and participated by students who are actively involved in creating games. On Monday 09 of May 2022, at 09:00-12:00 in the Lecture Theatre 2 of the History Department we are hosting a visiting seminar with Mr. Argyris Zachos, as part of the [AVA841] Audiovisual Production Management module.

On Tuesday, May 3, 2022, in the YK2 hall, from 16:00 to 18:00, as part of the course "THE848 Hybrid Arts Practices", the lecturers Dr. Dalila Honorato and Dr. Tania Tsiridou invite you to the lecture of the artist Dr. Anna Kedziora, who will talk about her artwork where she combines philosophy and ecology as well as about artistic education in Poland.

From Monday 2 to Friday 7 May, Ms Haruka Hirayama, Mr. Hideaki Isobe (Professors of Computer Music, Music Technology and New Media at Hokkaido Information University and Tokyo Music College) are visiting Corfu as guests of the European project EASTN-DC  (European Art-Science-Technology Network, Digital Creativity) and the Audiovisual Arts Festival of the Department of Audio & Visual Arts of the Ionian University, to develop and show projects at the Studio of the Municipal and Regional Theatre of Corfu.

Hari Marini, Associate Professor, Department of Audio and Visual Arts, will give a performative presentation on "Approaching Urban Scenographics Through Spirals Interventions", αs part of Performance Design Futures Symposium, οrganised by CYCSTAT - the Cyprus Center of Scenographers, Theater Architects and Technicians. ​The international hybrid symposium "Performance Design Futures Symposium" will take place 8-10th April 2022.

From February 2022, three Universities from Croatia, Greece and Serbia, along with one Croatian NGO partner, work on co-designing and testing a new, interdisciplinary MA programme named "ASH-Art, Science & Health". 

Dalila Honorato, Associate Professor of the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University, was one of the participants in an exhibition by the COPRAXIS project. With the aim of promoting the creation of plastic arts, resulting from an experimental process at the intersection between art, science and technology, the project was based on the creation of works from a period of artistic residencies at i3s - Instituto de Investigação e Inovação em Saúde, in Porto, together with scientific collaborators and at Ectopia - Laboratório de arte experimental, in Lisbon. The exhibition took place between the 5th and 25th of March at Ectopia (Lisbon) and continues now between the 1st and 22 April at i3S (Porto).

On Friday, 8th April 2022, in classroom YK1 at 11.00 -12.00, in the frame of the courses “VIS230-Color-Drawing”, and “AVA830-Reconstruction of Technical Images”, the faculty members: Konstantinos Tiligadis ( Assoc. Professor), Spyros Verykios (Asst. Professor), Maria Argyrokastriti (Special Educational Personnel) and Maria Krigka (Special Educational Personnel), invite you at the lecture of the reknowned Greek painter George Rorris, who will give an artist talk and Q&A.

The Steering Committee of the 15th Audiovisual Arts Festival (#AVfest2022) of the Department of Audio and Visual Arts, in collaboration with the ERHMEE Lab - Department of Music Studies, of the Ionian University invites students and anyone who is interested in joining the volunteers’ team.

The program of the 15th Audiovisual Arts Festival, which will take place on Μay 12th to June 5th 2022, covers, as every year, a wide range of artistic, educational and scientific activities.

On Tuesday, 5.4.2022, Prof. Dr. Jorge T. Ferraz de Abreu, University of Aveiro, will give two lectures with practical examples on Digital Media and Interactive TV and on Evaluation Methods. The presentations will occur in the context of the "(AVA641) Applied Multimedia" and the "(TEC611) Designing Interfaces" courses at 9.00 and 13.00 respectively.

Today, Tuesday 29 March 2022, 4:00pm (classroom YK2), as part of the course "THE848 Hybrid Arts Practices", we will have the pleasure to host Dr. Adam Zaretsky with us on a guest lecture entitled "Bio Data Body Compost". The talk will be coordinated by the instructors of the course, Dr. Tania Tsiridou and Dr. Dalila Honorato.

Members of the InArts Lab - Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University. Dr. Dalila Honorato, Ms. Stella Lamboura, Ms. Marily Argyrokastriti and collaborating artist Dr. Adam Zaretsky participated in the kick-off meeting for the designing of the new international Master of Arts Programme “Art, Science and Health” (ASH ΜΑ), which took place 23-25 February 2022 in Zagreb.

AV-school, the series of seminars and workshops of the Audiovisual Arts Festival, is taking place online this year from 15 to 20 May 2022.

The Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University has been named a partner of the third FEMeeting – Women in Art, Science and Technology Conference. The conference will be taking place between 12 and 17 September 2022, in Évora, Portugal. FEMeeting was first organized in 2017, the original idea coming from artist Marta de Menezes and Dalila Honorato, Associate Professor of the aforementioned Department of Audio and Visual Arts. The conference will be held English. Abstracts can be submitted until 12 April 2022.

This week’s class (01/03/22) will be guesting the international stop motion animator Anna Malin Mantzaris. Anna is a Swedish animation director based in Stockholm and London. Her films have won over 70 international awards, including European Animation Award, Vimeo Best of the Year, Walt Disney Award and Audience Award at Ottawa International Animation Festival.
