The 1st International Festival of Short Documentaries ended on Monday 30 January. The festival was organised by the Creative Documentary Centre of Kalamata and the Kalamata Municipality, hosting guests and participants from 32 countries.
The Dept. of Audio & Visual Arts collaborated through the participation of academic members A. Loufopoulos (Associate Professor), K. Tiligadis (Professor) and I. Panagopoulos (Academic Scholar) in the committee of Awards, as part of the memorandum of collaboration between the Creative Documentary Centre and the Ionian University (Dept. of Audio & Visual Arts and Dept. of Foreign Languages, Translation and Interpreting).
The prizes awarded by our department were in 4 categories: a) best Greek and Cypriot Student Film, b) best International Student Film, c) best Editing Award and d) best Sound Design. Apostolos Loufopoulos was there at the ending ceremony to announce and give the prizes to winners, also giving a short introduction about the artistic collaboration on behalf of the Dept. of Audio & Visual Arts.
Amongst the numerous projected films during the festival, there were documentaries from students and alumni of the Dept. of Audio & Visual Arts. The prize in category best Greek and Cypriot Student Film was awarded to our student Melina-Nafsika Eythimiou for her documentary "No Clue About the Future".
