In my work I explore the church's relationship to the bill passed regarding marriage between same-sex couples. I developed for the needs of the course interactive environments, installations and participated in the group exhibition "Visuability" which was successfully held at the French Institute of Thessaloniki in June 2024 as part of the Pride Festival.
The materials I used to complete the project are wood for the construction of the pedestal which I created with multiple materials such as charcoal, spray paint, oil pastels, markers, acrylic etc. For the ball I used plexi glass transparent plexi glass three millimeters thick. The pink illuminated word vote was created with plexi neon led and Transparent mirror For the needs of voting during the exhibition we will print printed postcards.
The work comments on the church's position and the "holy war" over the law regarding civil marriage for same-sex couples. I use the words from the church's small feast and ritual where the faithful write in the temple the names of the living for health or for souls and in the same process in a symbolic way an informal vote is held every day throughout the exhibition without any result.
The pedestal refers to the past in the trace and trauma. It has a strong symbol of cancellation and traces of words of emotions with many layers (palimpsest). The upper part of the work is bright optimistic and the technique of eternity refers to the future and social evolution. Pink is the color that has been standardized as a symbol of LGBTQ so it is used .It is cheerful it contains a lightness and undermines all this joy and supposed optimism just like the saying of the title which is ironic.
