(the work is in progress)
The work is an interactive installation that combines Arduino, a temperature sensor and candles, with the aim of deconstructing and reconstructing a text through changing temperature. By lighting and extinguishing candles, the viewer influences the temperature and, consequently, the intensity and quality of the sound produced. The installation transforms temperature changes into sound stimuli, creating a dynamic listening experience.
The text used is the first story from Raymond Quenot’s book Exercises in Style, which explores different perspectives and ways of narrating the same event in 99 different ways. The use of candles incorporates symbolism related to memory, mourning and religious tradition, while the viewer’s interaction with them directly affects the sound effect, highlighting the relationship between human actions and the perception of reality. The experience of the work is constantly changing, highlighting the fragile nature of memory and storytelling through sound performance.
