The short documentary “My Grandmother – Areti” is a portrait of my grandmother, seen through my own eyes. Through her own storytelling, aspects of her character and personality are revealed, along with moments from her life. At the same time, the film highlights the optimism that defines her, despite the challenges she continues to face to this day. Areti is someone who has deeply influenced me, and as time goes by, I realize more and more how much I resemble her. Having lived a life devoted to others—often setting aside her own desires—I felt the need, through this project, to shed some light on her life. To bring forward parts of her story that often go unnoticed, but truly deserve to be seen and heard.
