“Fragments of the Self” is a project created for the AVA743 Art of Technical Images course. The title embodies multiple concepts. Literally, the fragments are pieces, a broken screen, various aspects of something, but also a personal trauma. The goal is to present an identity, a “self”. The creator's personality is presented through technology and social media, which project the fragments of the world onto her screen and allow her to artistically process her own personal traumas. However, the use of social media sacrifices time from her art. When does technology serve as a medium for “healing” versus creating its own fragments of the self? Created on 21/22/23, when the death toll in Gaza was just over 13,300 civilians. Creation-Editing: Angeliki Panagiotou. Sound files sourced from freesound.org.
