STATE 0
Date and Time: 31/05/2024 (20:00-23:00)
Location: Politechno
Aris Makridi, Maria Tachtatzoglou, Katerina Harela

State 0 is a performance inspired by Sarah Kane's CRAVE. It references a plethora of issues that interested the creative team [OVUM]. The backbone of this performance are issues that involve love and specifically the infatuation/lust that comes with love. The performance approaches and interprets those feelings as one single person that has multiple "faces" within them. Those "faces" are thought to emerge because of all the dfferent states of love one person goes through. [OVUM] encapsulates all this with the help of technology and intense speech and acts throughout the performance, aiming to provoke the dark that we all hide in us when in love. Main issues: is love selfish by nature? Is there a place for selfishness when in love? Or the only selfishness that holds a place alongside love is the one that everyone has inside them? The performance is substanciated by theories of Jung, Freud, Aristotle and others of the psychology and psychiatry fields. The performance is thought to be a multimedia performance due to the use of sound and video projection.
