The famous publisher Pierre Brochant organizes a special dinner party with special guests, every week! This week’s honorary guest is none other than François Pignon, a sensitive, naive and kind-hearted man, whom Brochant thinks is the best of all fools! Through their acquaintance, Pignon ends up bringing great upheavals in Brochant’s life, as he forces him to confront the reality of his life. As Brochant’s strong character is slowly deconstructed in front of Pignon and the other guests, the dinner’s host is faced with a question: which one is the fool?
The play compares social classes and the typical behavior of people in these classes, in order to underline that sometimes simplicity and innocence are a blessing and not a curse.
