“72” is a video-performance where the limit of normality, accepted behavior and appearance is explored by 72 personas. What is considered to be eccentric? What does it mean in our society for someone to wear simple or fancy clothes? What is recommended for each gender to wear as appropriate clothing? A person's clothing choices and appearance will often cause them to be categorized into stereotypical identities.
This video was filmed during 2020’s quarantine in 72 different parts of Florina, Greece, mostly in public. The conservative background of the small provincial town strengthens the contrast with the various manifestations of individuality that we see in the work as different costume versions, indicative of the desire for free expression and declaration of identity.
