The first annex of the Department of Audio & Visual Arts of the Ionian University was inaugurated recently in the westernmost point of Greece, in Othoni, aiming to host residencies for scientists and artists developing activities in new media art practice and research. Integrating the archipelagos of Diapontia in the Ionian Sea, northwest of Corfu, the annex named "Kalogerou" is located in Chorio, the main settlement of the island. At an altitude of 300 meters, this stone building was constructed in 1844 and was recently renovated with the use of traditional materials and style, inspired on the local architecture. Part of the agenda of the annex is the programming of cultural and educational activities with the participation of the academic and artistic communities. The residencies' agreement was signed in September 2021 by the manager of "Kalogerou" Mr. Dionysis Dimoulitsas and the Rector of the Ionian University Professor Andreas Floros. Scientific coordinator of the annex's program is Associate Professor of the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University Ioannis Deliyannis.

More info soon... for now enjoy the teaser with video by Ioannis Deliyannis and sound by Apostolos Loufopoulos, Associate Professor of the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University.
