The Department of Audio & Visual Arts of the Ionian University organizes the 5th International Conference Digital Culture & AudioVisual Challenges (DCAC-2023) which will be held in hybrid way - online and in the Ionian Academy in Corfu (Greece), on Friday 12 May and on Saturday 13 May 2023. The year 2022 marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Greek-born pioneer composer and thinker Iannis Xenakis, and is accompanied worldwide by events dedicated to his memory and work. To honour this Greek-born musician, a marathon concert takes place at Athens Conservatory, on Saturday 17 December, presenting works inspired by his musical work and his reflections on science and technology and the role of muscles in society and the arts. This event, which takes place at the Athens Conservatory from 7 pm until 3:30 am the following day, features musicians and artists from ten different countries (Greece, Italy, Germany, Turkey, Japan, Mexico, England, Ireland, Germany, Turkey, United States).

The Ionian Contemporary Animation Festival ICONA 2022, organized for fourth year by the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University had a great participation with more than 1.300 movie submissions!

The META-Xenakis global symposium will be held online on September 30 and October 1, 2022, by various educational institutions across 5 countries all over the world connected via the web.

The aim of the Ionian Contemporary Animation Festival ICONA 2022 is to present the best from the field of animation from all around the world. The festival also aims to preserve and help develop the cultural heritage of animated film, contribute to creation of new films, provide ground for potential international co-productions and encourages dialogue between professionals, filmmakers and the public. A new international and transdisciplinary Master of Arts programme on the topic of Art, Science and Health will be showcased, tested and evaluated during a one-week Pilot Course held online in English language for a maximum of 40 participants, from Monday, November 7, to Friday, November 11, 2022, every day from 5.00 p.m. CET. Participation is free of admission.

The Animation Festival ICONA 2021, which took place from the 2nd to the 5th of December 2021, exclusively online, by the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University, was successfully completed.

On Thursday, November 25th, 10:00am (classroom 11), as part of the course "THE906-Practice of Exhibition Design", we will have the pleasure to have Dr Adam Zaretsky with us on a guest lecture entitled “IT'S ALIVE! Understanding bio-art: art and biology exhibited”.

Welcome to the 3rd International Conference on Digital Culture & AudioVisual Challenges. This year the International Conference on Digital Culture & AudioVisual Challenges will be held online. It is hosted by the Department of Audio & Visual Arts (Ionian University) and depending on the pandemic circumstances there will be an option for physical presence. Conference dates: 28-29 May, 2021.

The program of the 14th Audiovisual Arts Festival, which will take place on 13-31 May, covers, as every year, a wide range of artistic, educational and scientific activities.
