MARes 2025-2026 students who wish to be exempted from tuition fees and meet the criteria set by law should submit the necessary supporting documents mentioned in Ministerial Decision 108990/Ζ1/16-9-2022 (Government Gazette 4899/2022 vol. B) according to Ministerial Decision 46905/Ζ1/06-05-2025 (Government Gazette 2185/2025 vol. B')  (all in one PDF file)  attached until 26 September 2025 via email to mares@ionio.gr. An additional Application Form/Solemn Declaration issued through the www.gov.gr addressed TO: Secretariat of the Postgraduate Program "MARes in Hybrid Arts" and including the statement “Δεν έχω κάνει χρήση του δικαιώματος απαλλαγής από τα τέλη φοίτησης σε Π.Μ.Σ. με τη διάταξη του άρθρου 86 του ν. 4957/2022 και δεν λαμβάνω υποτροφία από άλλη πηγή. Δεν είμαι πολίτης τρίτων χωρών.” should also be attached.

The General Assembly of the Department of Audio and Visual Arts, by the postgraduate program regulations, compiled the Table of Selected Candidates for the MARes “Master of Research in Hybrid Arts” for the academic year 2025-2026, based on the ranking order of applicants as determined by the criteria outlined in Article 11. For data protection purposes, only the application codes of the candidates are listed. All listed bellow candidates are requested to confirm their participation by September 26, 2025, by completing the acceptance declaration available at the attached file "Αcceptance Declaration" and indicating whether they hold another postgraduate degree. This, together with health insurance coverage number and proof of tuition fee status, should be sent to the email address: mares@ionio.gr.

We are looking for writers and researchers to contribute chapters to the upcoming Feral Labs Node Book #3: Fa Fa Futures — the final volume of the Rewilding Cultures project (Creative Europe, 2021–2026). Each writer will be paired with one Feral Labs institution and provided with curated documentation (reports, images, transcripts, contextual notes) to produce a reflective, research-informed chapter.

All students who have successfully completed the first semester and would like to choose a new supervisor for their thesis are invited to submit an application for the assignment of the proposed MARes faculty member’s name. Students who do not submit an application, will be automatically assigned their current academic advisor as thesis supervisor. The application must be sent via email to mares@ionio.gr by the deadline Friday, June 27, 2025 (4 CET). For questions or assistance, please contact the MARes Secretariat.

In this session, Angeliki Malakasioti will explore the role of visual storytelling in scientific communication, focusing on the research poster as both a medium and a message. Drawing from her background in architecture, digital media, and speculative design, she will share practical strategies for creating effective, visually compelling posters that not only inform but engage and inspire. Emphasis will be placed on design choices, layout logic, visual hierarchy, and how aesthetic clarity can enhance the visibility and impact of scientific work.

Matthias Fritsch works as a film maker, visual artist and permaculturist. The last years he is working with organic materials and organisms, researching about circles of matter and biological processes. Since 2020, he co-runs a large forest garden near Berlin. His goal is to find a working methodology and lifestyle that decreases the individual environmental impact. During his talk he will present the projects, Waldgartenpilot Rehfelde, Experimental Gardens & a Shade Tree Nursery (large forest garden near Berlin), Ecopolis, Composting Furniture, The Mediterranean Garden (cope with global warming), Mycelium Network and Fungi Factor. He will discuss the importance and challenges of working with soil and organic matter for artists projects and systems for living. Defining his practice as Permakunst, he will address the needs of producing, presenting and maintaining such projects, and refer to their connection to other ecological practices.

Professor Erik Knudsen will present insights from StoryLab, a research programme funded twice by the Arts & Humanities Research Council (AHRC). StoryLab explores, both philosophically and creatively, how independent filmmakers can discover and develop a personal voice through their practice, with a particular emphasis on the early ideation stages of cinematic expression.
