All communication with the Secretariat of the Master of Research in Hybrid Arts (MARes) during the academic year 2025-2026 should be established by email mares@ionio.gr during office hours Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. (local time, Greece). All communications received after 3:00 p.m. are processed on the next working day. Please note that correspondence is not processed during weekends, national holidays, and official university breaks.

Spirits Unseen, a photographic project by MARes student Myrto Papadopoulos, will be presented at the Silversmithing Museum in Ioannina as part of the 17th Photometria International Festival. Curated by Christoforos Doulgeris, the exhibition explores gender, memory, and identity within the Pomak communities of Thrace, continuing its journey after solo presentations at the Benaki Museum and the Royal Abbey of Épau.

The first talk in the series will be given by MARes student Eeva-Liisa Puhakka on Thursday, October 23, at 4:00 PM (Athens time). Eeva-Liisa will present the latest developments in her project, “Currents of Smell and Signal: From the Barents Sea to the Beyond”, exploring smell as a sociocultural indicator and translating olfactory experiences into multisensory narratives.

From October 10 to 12, the creative factory Veldze (Matīsa Street 8) in Riga will host one of the first international olfactory art festivals in Europe — the Scent Art Festival 2025. The MARes 2024–2025 student Eeva-Liisa Puhakka (Finland) will take part in the opening exhibition with her scented sound installation Leave the body, leave the mind, presented alongside works by artists from around the world.

This intensive week-long program offers MARes and ASFA postgraduate students a unique opportunity to develop their research skills and thesis planning through direct faculty mentoring, interdisciplinary collaboration, and hands-on experimentation. Students engage in live discussions, workshops, and peer exchanges in a stimulating research environment while exploring collaborative methodologies that bridge art and science. The program includes: faculty-led seminars on Art Research Methods, Project Sustainability, and Media Archaeology, students led workshops, and discussion of students project ideas with faculty feedback.

The Ionian University’s Department of Audio and Visual Arts is pleased to announce the successful selection of candidates for the Master of Research (MARes) in Hybrid Arts program for the academic year 2025–2026. Classes are set to begin on Wednesday, 1 October 2025, marking the start of an innovative program that explores the dynamic intersections of art, science, and technology. In anticipation of this milestone, the university will host a welcoming session on Monday, 29 September 2025. This event will allow faculty members to meet and greet the second cohort of students, setting the tone for what promises to be a transformative educational experience.

The Master of Research in Hybrid Arts (MARes) is committed to providing students with flexible tuition options. The total tuition fee for the MARes 2025-2026 program is €2.000,00 payable in full or in four installments starting by September 26, 2025.

B) according to Ministerial Decision 46905/Ζ1/06-05-2025 (Government Gazette 2185/2025 vol. B')  (all in one PDF file)  attached until 26 September 2025 via email to mares@ionio.gr. An additional Application Form/Solemn Declaration issued through the www.gov.gr addressed TO: Secretariat of the Postgraduate Program "MARes in Hybrid Arts" and including the statement “Δεν έχω κάνει χρήση του δικαιώματος απαλλαγής από τα τέλη φοίτησης σε Π.Μ.Σ. με τη διάταξη του άρθρου 86 του ν. 4957/2022 και δεν λαμβάνω υποτροφία από άλλη πηγή. The General Assembly of the Department of Audio and Visual Arts, by the postgraduate program regulations, compiled the Table of Selected Candidates for the MARes “Master of Research in Hybrid Arts” for the academic year 2025-2026, based on the ranking order of applicants as determined by the criteria outlined in Article 11. For data protection purposes, only the application codes of the candidates are listed. All listed bellow candidates are requested to confirm their participation by September 26, 2025, by completing the acceptance declaration available at the attached file "Αcceptance Declaration" and indicating whether they hold another postgraduate degree. This, together with health insurance coverage number and proof of tuition fee status, should be sent to the email address: mares@ionio.gr.
