Danai Paipeti
Danae Paipeti creates works that depict seashells, exploring their shape, form, and lines. Through careful observation, she records the creations of nature, while combining this with a play of movement and line intensity to render the shells with both detail and personal interpretation.
Her relationship with them—and with the sea—is deep and dates back to her childhood, imbuing her drawings with emotion and explaining this “fixation” on the subject. The shell becomes a symbol of protection, carrying memories through its wear, yet continuing to shelter and embrace through its resilience.
She works with pencil or watercolors, creating contrasts between pieces while highlighting the rhythm and the sense of time embedded in her subject.
