The course examines the concept of performance through the development of visual arts, performance art, experimental theater, multimedia performance, and visual installations. The history of performance engages in dialogue with other arts, offering a rich field where the cultural, political, and social dimensions of the performance experience are highlighted. The exploration of performance in relation to identity, agency, the sociopolitical context, and aesthetics defines the relationship between performer and audience and reveals the value of performance as a medium for reflection, critique, disruption, provocation, and invitation.
