[Taal In][Taal Out]
Justine Goussot, Emmanouel Rovithis

[Taal in][ Taal out], created in October 2022 in Athens, is a solo piece with live electronic soundscapes initiating a conversation between contemporary dance, classical Indian dance and algorithm. This research was run by Aspasia Marmaritsaki and Justine Goussot, choreographer of La Lali Cie company, with the common desire to explore the notions of time and rhythmicality from a kinetic, mathematic and poetic point of view, and to seek for a methodology that could generate scores through an algorithm in order to formulate a singular choreographic language. Emmanouel Rovithis has since joined the project to deal with the musical aspects of this research.

Drawing upon the fundamentals of classical Indian dance, this piece remains contemporary. The algorithm and the use of scores lead the choreography through specific durations, directions, steps and hands combinations, engaging the question of freedom inside a specific pattern, of the empty space where free will can exist.
This piece is talking about Time at an intimate range too, the inner time, internal, non-binary, in opposition with the outer time, the social one. On stage the dancer shows a constant traveling between inner and outer way of being, improving herself within demanding and very precise indications, looking for the gaps inside that will allow space for emptiness, and a sensitive perception of Time, that we are all looking for.
