A wandering "magician" (Dr. Caligari) puts on a show at the local fair, which includes a permanently hypnotized attendant. A series of murders turn the narrator's attention to Caligari and the suspicion that he is responsible for the crimes.
    A musical-theatrical arrangement of Robert Wiene's expressionist film "The cabinet of dr. Caligari' (1919), which «made a splash» on arts of its time, set the direction for many of the later trends in cinema and depicted the turbulent German interwar period. The plot is presented through the special prism defined by the parallel musical action, which captures the psychological and stylistic level of the dramaturgy.
